There is no such thing as a false positive :) But there ARE false negatives. What test did you use out of interest as the earlier you test the more likely you are to get a positive with something like a First Plus or Clear Blue :)

Sorry to sound daft but what would a nuchal fold scan be looking for?
Just not sure what they would be looking for in ' older mums '

I do have two children already but they are 16 and 14!! Just wasnt sure if i would have to notify them an earlier given my age to carry out any additional tests or whether they are not carried out till later on anyway.

    Many thanks x

The nuchal fold scan measure the nuchal fold... it basically works with the blood test to see if the baby is likely to have problems like Downs Syndrome. It's not standard here in Oxon unless you're in an "increased" risk group.

I'd notify the doctors asap anyway because getting a MW booking in appointment can be a hassle. They get booked ages in advance and because you need a longer appointment the first time you get less choice if you don't book early...

Had all my babies in Devon and we always had all the tests offered, although still in Devon doctors is in Dorset so hope all is the same, never been one to keep my mouth shut though when I want something so will be asking for everything I had before and more besides. I want the Group B Strep test in my final few weeks, was a carrier last time and put my poor little boy through 4 days of hell, not to mention the worry it caused us thinking he had it. Will go private if I have to.

Seems the more you have the earlier you show, your muscles don't work as well, don't think I will last 2 more weeks without people guessing.

I couldn't do my jeans up about a week after I found out... Am 12 weeks today and asked DH if he thought my belly was sticking out more (It sticks out a fair bit anyway tbh) and he said he'd noticed but didn't want to say anything... Apparently if you're body's already done it, things tend to ping into position quicker than the first time round... Incidentally, I'm pretty sure I felt the baby last night... I've been feeling things twitching and bubbling round (probably wind) for weeks now and know it's not baby... But last night I was lying half on my tummy in bed (getting a bit uncomfortable now so will have to adjust sleeping positions soon) and I felt just a tiny touch of something inside me... I am 98% positive it was baby, it felt like a really gentle version of what I felt with DD and it was nothing like the bubbling of my intestines, it was just a touch... I think baby was using me as a springboard for a quick jump... Nothing since... But I can't wait to feel it again!!!

I can feel my bump, but no-one else can see it! OH doesn't think its there - it is, its just under a lot of fat!

About tests, I had a negative at 4 weeks and 8 weeks pregnant. Doctor insisted I do one more test before sending me off for tests to see why my periods stopped. Did it, and could not believe the result! Then was even more shocked at the scan - I thought I was only 4 weeks, but was 11+5. Still hasn't really sunk in.
