Trying For a Baby II

  • Thanks everyone for letting me know what maternity pay you get. I guess I should be gratefull that I get a bit more than smp.

I was going to wait till tomorrow to try another test because of the almost invisible line I thought I saw yesterday, but I couldn't help myself and tried another this morning. It was still very faint but a much more distinguishable line today. I am not believing it just yet. I will do another tomorrow morning and maybe let OH know if it looks darker again.

My money project for today is to take out life insurance. I tried to talk to OH about it on the weekend but he was not very cooperative because I don't think he wanted to think about one of us dying, but if I am carrying our little one and he is hit by a bus tomorrow I am going to be a single mum on benefits.

So, how much life insurance and for how long?

Me: 30 years, salary currently £30,000 but I do't want to continue with this job so expect to earn a lot less in future (only part time work hopefully)
OH: 35 years, self employed last year earnt about £50,000, looks like he will earn a similar amount this year but extremely variable. If we went back to a salaried job he would earn £35-40.

Mortgage £220,000, I am hoping we could pay it off a bit early by overpaying, so lets say 15 years to run.

I am thinking 25 years so hopefully our future child will be out of education, and maybe £350,000 so the mortgage is paid off with a bit left over. I assume me or OH will work if one of us passed away. What do people think?

I hope people are not too bothered by me talking about death in a thread abouting starting a new life, but I feel I have to get this sorted ASAP.

Hi MJ - if you have a line (no matter how faint) in the test window you are pregnant so congratulations x
The line will darken daily as the pregnancy hormones double but it may take a few days to get a really dark line.
There is a board dedicated to Insurance and life insurance - I have posted there below and got lots of help as there are some MSE'ers that are in this specifically in this line of advice so perhaps you might get a better response there.
Congratulations and Good luck with your pregnancy x
  • Congratulations maryjane..it does sound like you are pg!:j Hope all goes well for you over the coming months.

  • Well my first AF has showed up today after my Mirena removal two weeks ago on the 9th October so I am feeling very happy that my body is starting to get back to normal.
I haven't had AF for about two years with Mirena and although I didn't miss it at the time, now that I am TTC I'm happy I can get going with planning now that my cycle is back :D
Just praying it's not too painful or heavy over the next few days.

well I am 10 DPO tomorrow, I am definately a symptom spotter!! I have written them all down so i can refer to in the coming months and not get myself at it. I dont really feel PG, but the main is the spots which is so unlike me!! I have had dizziness, very creamy CM, and pain behind nips!!!!!!!

congrats mary jane, sounds like it is it for you. How many DPO are you (when was AF due?)

Ladies, what are the signs of ovulation? I don;t mean temperature and stuff like that but things I can spot fairly easily without special equipment!

I know you have to look for CM but what type and how much of it?

Are there signs like getting moody? Or is that after OV?

All help gratefully received as I suspect we need to BD over the next few days, although probably my cycle will be out because of the m/c.

    Anyone?

  • what's your opinion?

I think i could have Ov-ed a few days back.
I had EWCM leading up to it. Then i went dry 2 days ago.

I just went to the toilet now... I have yellow-ish tinged jelly type fluid.
    what's that???

    thanks

Skintchick... what are you thinking / feeling / experiencing???
  • Hi skintchick...
When I am ovulating I get CM which is very stretchy and clear...it is usually described as being like egg white. There is usually quite a big blob (usual TMI disclaimer here) may be once or twice in a day (and then normally, once I have OV'd, the amount of normal CM lessens until AF arrives). The only other symptom I have is an increased interest in BDing!
Hope that this helps you..and isn't too late :o.

    Hi Skint Chick,
    (Lots of TMI here!)

As the previous poster said my CM is like Egg white or stretchy mucus. To be honest I only noticed it for the first time last month, and that was when wiping after going to the loo! I always feel like Bd'ing first thing in the morning when ov as well (When normally I REALLY can't be bothered!)

I have also used Ovulation tests (The wee in a pot type) from access diagnostics website - which are good and not that expensive if you buy a few at a time - well, much cheaper than going to Boots to get them anyway.

    Hope that helps, good luck!
