    Hi Madmac
On the pregnacare, i would stop taking it and try just folic acid and try and eat a balanced diet, there is no need to take extra vitamins if your diet is balanced. Also if the vitamins are making you feel ill then they are prob not right for you. If you want to know what to take i would speak to your gp or nurse. Good luck and lets hope we all move boards to the pregancy one soon and with no serious problems.

    Baby dust to all :)

Thank you Leopardlady, I started taking the Pregnacare as I read so many stories of slightly older ladies having success while on it (I am now over 35) but I wonder if it doesn't agree with me because my meal portions are still on the small size - I just eat more often! So am switching back to just folic acid now and will look out for alternatives I suppose.

Now off to work out all this cycle and temperature business! I didn't realise it would be so complicated :D

Best to start the folic acid three months before TTC but if you don't have that much time just start asap.

Wow is that right - 3 months? I didn't think folic acid was stored in the body so why take it so far in advanced? I'll have to do some research!!! We are TTC but I don't take any..mainly because I forget:o Might go have one now!

Yes, I was also told 3 months for folic acid to build up in your system so I have now been taking it for nearly 5 months! Thank goodness they are cheap :D

Hi Nikabella, I used to be underweight but mainly thanks to my boyfriend making lovely meals each day my bmi is now 20 but I still worry that I will look huge when I get pg and my biggest worry - because it happened to a friend of mine who is a similar weight - is that I wont be able to breast feed. My friend said she just lost more weight breast feeding so had to stop. Can I ask if you managed to breast feed?

I was worried too that I would get a huge bump with my DD compared to my size (as my mum was huuuuge with me). However, I didn't get a bump until I was 6 months gone & at 9 months though it seemed big to me, everyone would comment on how tiny & compact it was, I was the same size/shape everywhere except my belly & humongous breasts. They were really worried my DD was only going to be 5lbs as my bump was so small but when she finally arrived she was 8lbs5oz  - the midwife asked where I had been hiding her lol. Pre-pregnancy I was about 9st5lbs the day I went into labour I was 10st5lb & after giving birth I was 9st exactly so I actually lost weight, if you know what I mean, whilst I was pregnant.

For me breastfeeding was hugely important & though we had loads of problems with it at first (think blood & pieces of nipple falling out  & mastitis) I went on to breastfeed my DD for 11 months. I would have been devastated if I couldn't have breastfed her at all & was planning on feeding her for as close to 2 years as possible, however, my milk dried up at 11 months & I think this was probably due to my weight. From 9st after her birth I dropped to under 8st due to a very distressing situation that was going on plus she ate, & ate, & ate lol. Looking back I could have tried harder to keep my weight up whilst feeding her & next time my situation should be different & I will be able to maintain my weight & breastfeed for longer.

I probably looked sillier whilst breastfeeding than pregnant though, as I was very skinny but had 32E breasts! That said I'd welcome them back any day as they very quickly disappeared once I finished feeding & now they are a sorry shadow of their former glory :rotfl: .

As long as you eat plenty & regularly & don't have any physical problems I'm sure you will be able to breastfeed.

Oh well should be nice and healthy for when i get that ellusive bfp ;)

Well OH seems very keen this month, which is great as i was worried i still might have some problems getting him on board, but he is full steam ahead, so i just need to make sure we are eating well and resting when we are not bding!!:rotfl:

Oh MadMac, can i ask how the pregnacare make you feel? I was given some recently, by a friend who gave birth very early, and have taken them for four days now, and today am feeling quite queezy, could this be the vitamins?

Thanks for the welcomes all. AF arrived for me two days ago. We haven't started trying yet so I'm not upset. But for the past 4 years or so I have had immense pain during AF. Never had it before but it's just getting worse. In November I saw my GP and she gave me Mefenamic Acid and sent me to get a scan. The scan revealed nothing odd except for one cyst which I believe is normal. The tablets don't help much so GP said get another scan. Going for that on Thursday and will see the GP next week. Will ask her about getting pg at the same time and see what she says. Hope all goes well for all of you.

I had a folic acid tablet last night and guess what .. AF arrives 30 minutes later! So, no luck for me this month, mind you we only BDed once so it was expected. However, the OH was disappointed and agreed that maybe we should be doing it a bit more over the fertile period.:T At last.. i've got through to him. Well, I hope so.. we'll have to see. Just need to find out when that fertile period actually is:o

Theres a book that some of you recommend by tony someone??? I did have a look on amazon and there are 2 versions.. an older one which seems to be the better seller and an updated one. Has anyone seen the difference and which one is best to get? Actually I could see if the library has it. Might pop down later.

    Baby dust to all.

Yes, they made me feel mightily sick and gave me cramps around my middle - I knew it was the tablets as when I stopped taking them, the pain went!

I contacted Vitabiotics and they advised me to crush the tablets and sprinkle over food to get my body to absorb it quicker but I haven't tried that method yet - I might just split and take half morning and evening as homeaway suggested on here and see if that helps... or find another brand completely!

Here's hoping anyway I can get something that agrees with me better. Will not now see OH for a couple of weeks (luckily the right ones!) so I have time to try and get more sorted x

I can't take Pregnacare either as they give me horrendous headaches. I just take Folic acid now.

butterfly, I too used to forget to take them and in the end I bought one of those 7 day pill reminders from Poundland. In it you get 7 plastic containers with morning, lunch, evening etc printed on them. I just use 2 of the containers and have written in marker Mon, Tues etc etc on them. Then put them somewhere or next to something that you use every morning. Mine are in my bathroom next to the toothpaste....lol
