I dont like talktalk myself esp with all the problems my dad gets which result it becoming my trouble but if they do put the prices up more than inflation cant you just give 30 days notice and cancel even if in contract due to price rise?

i'VE been with TT for a while, they just called and offered me the router which I declined, he then said he'd give me £5 off my bill so I said OK. He then read all the legal jargon bearing in mind that it was a bad line & I've got the flu so not particularly alert! The contract will be sent to me and I have 7 days to cancel, It's for 18 months, with up to £70 if I change to another provider, I didn't catch how long the £5 off would be for.

I wasn't planning to change any time soon as it's always been a hassle before and I don't think my bills are that unreasonable (£23-26 total per month for phone and BB).

Should I be wary of this?

    Hi Tiamaria,

The £5 discount will be for a maximum of 6 months and a minumum of 3. Its a standard renewal offer so its nothing to be wary of. Your letter will have the full details in it and you can cancel the renewal if you don't want to go ahead with it.

    Cheers

I just had a call from Talk Talk regarding the fact that my 18 month contract was ending and did i wish to sign up for another 18 months.

I asked on what date it expired and was told it finished in December so was already ended.

I was told if i sign up to the 18 months, prices will remain as they are but i note from TALKTALK Support that this may not be the case.

I raised some questions and was also told that if i sign up to the 18 months and then wanted to move to another provider before the end, it would cost £70. If i didnt sign up, then they wouldnt cut me off but would put me on a month by month contract and if i wanted to switch it would not cost anything.

As with others on here, i was offered the router for £15 which i dont need (still have the original modem in it's box in a cupboard) and was then offered two months half price if i signed up.

Thought i'd check on the website and have a look on here before deciding what to do but my preference is not to sign up for 18 months just in case the price does rocket.

Glad i looked here otherwise i wouldnt have seen the posting regarding the fact that they are only refunding the extra VAT if you ask for it before 31st January so will hopefully have saved some money and possibly added some useful information to this thread.

    Regards
    Trevor.

You need to register for a one off VAT credit on the TalkTalk website the link is https://www.talktalk.co.uk/VAT, you will then receive a one off credit in excess of the VAT adjustment.

What happens to the VAT for those that do not sign up before 31st January 2009 for this " one off " payment.?

Do Talk Talk just pocket the VAT difference?

There is a full explanation in a thread on the members forum HERE. As this is a thread on contract renewals then can we keep this thread to that please?! There is a thread on VAT somewhere on here too I think.

Why not just answer the simple and straightforward question, instead of the usual divert tactics to the Talk Talk Forum?

The OP mentioned the VAT element so it is a fair question.

Of course I think most of us know where the VAT Savings will be going.
