Another little earner for Ryanair

What's very interesting is that normally Ryanair provokes a fairly vigorous response from people on this forum........
The silence has been deafening.
May I suggest that is because nobody, including yourself, has so far been able to offer any form of explanation with regard to the only issue raised..... Namely, how does a merchant that accepts credit card payments manage to charge in one currency and convert the currency prior to it being receipted by the credit card company and is it legal/legit/above board?

But hardly anyone has come on to offer sympathy for your concerns about being fleeced by three quid on an otherwise cheap flight.
The silence has been deafening.
I suppose your right & not many people agree with my point, except of course those people who posted on post numbers:-

Still being sexist;) You now assume I am female:T
Remember, assumption is the mother of all f** ups:rotfl:
So your a pre-op transexual then? I like it.
I fully support your desire to know whether you have been ripped off or not, therefore can we please stop the bickering and wait until you get an answer.
Personally I would have queried the transaction with my bank and said, I didn't authorise this transaction, please give me all my money back or produce a proof that I authorised this £50.50 debit to my account.0 -

That's if you think three quid on a cheap flight is worth the hassle.

Is there any possibility that I would I be wasting my breath if I once again pointed out that it is not the monetary sum that is of concern, but the principle of the matter? :rolleyes:That's if you think three quid on a cheap flight is worth the hassle. The MSE Dictionary

i can see both sides of the argument, nobjocki has a point that £3 isnt worth doing anything about it and the reason for the upset is paying extra on bags becasue OP snake 16 let that happen.
but there is a point about ryanair who seem to charge what they like for the €60. i would think that sort of funny exchange rate rip off is commonplace in the travel industry0 -

I don't think so. My understanding is that DCC (which is what this is) is legal but the customer must be offered the choice. Ryanair do no appear to be offering this choice but imposing the DCC at a rate which is preferential to them and therefore costs the customer extra.0 -

This is NOT DCC, or at least not as I understand it. With DCC you can either opt to pay in Euros, or £ss. If you choose Euros your bank will determine the rate, or you can elect to pay in ££s at the rate offered by the seller but this will already have been converted and shown as ££s. In snakes case he opted to pay in Euros but instead of his/her bank converting it to £s RyanAir managed to do it after he had authorised payment in Euros but before the transaction reached his bank, which is surely not allowed.0
