I've got agreement to use my neighbours wireless connection for broadband. I've got a dongle type adaptor but the signal is low so i've put it out the window on a USB lead. What can i do to make my dongle/aerial pick up the signal better? With TV aerials you can get higher dB gains and amplifiers etc. What can be done to make the best wireless aerial assuming it's already in its best position?Cash ISA rate 6.5% fixed for 2 years. Mortgage rate 0.75% = 5.75% profit on £75K = £4500 per year:j

Hi thought I'd post here so I didn't get told off again:rolleyes:
I have a wireless ready lappy and PC (not sure if wireless ready but has an option on CP to set one up) don't mind having to wire PC to router but want the lappy wireless.
I am wanting to buy this one here
Can you tell me if its all I need or do I have to buy anything else to set it up the way I want it?

If you have a BT line, not cable, that should do the job.
Check that you have either an ethernet network card, or wireless network card in the PC..Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
yeah its a BT, sorry forgot to mention that bit.
not a clue how to check for the card, but can I just connect the PC via a wire?Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -
The ethernet card is for a wired connection, the socket for the cable looks like a modem connector, but a bit bigger. Most PC's will have one.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

Took me 9 months to finally get my wireless working to realise how stupidly simple it was.
It cost me £70 from PCWorld i hate myself for buying from there they suck, but i bought my PC there and it looked interesting so i just got it.
