Hi , Sorry i have not worked with ME at all. I am no expert but with XP there is a set up wizard that is quite easy to follow.
The dongle is a USB device and easy to install, the network card (if there isnt already one installed ) needs to be fitted inside the computer but is a lot easier than it sounds.
If you could get your hands on a dongle it would be worth installing it to see if you can get connected .WHOOOOSHHHHHHHHH……..
Blimey what was that ?
That was your life mate
Oh I wasn’t quite ready can I have another go ?
Sorry mate only one per person.0 -
Hi
I currently have a wireless router connected which works fine but would like to extend the range to work upstairs and outside. From previous projects i have a netgear wireless router currently in retirement. Is there a way of using this as a wireless extender and if so how do i do it
Thanks in advance

Hi - not sure if this is the right place to post this but I have a laptop and a wireless aol connection. We have an older desktop pc upstairs ( I know the wireless works there cos I take my laptop to bed! LOL!) and want to use it as wireless - a) how do I know if thats already possible and b) what will I need to buy to make it possible?
Thanks in advance xx
Following on from the previous posts - yes the wireless usb dongle should install fine through the XP wizard. Remember to ensure that if currently your laptop wireless network is secured with encryption, you will need to configure the new USB connection to log onto the secured network. You need to use the same password you used for the wireless network initially.0 -

Wondering if anyone can help please, I've been trying to sort this since Christmas and these forums have been really helpful with some other problems I have had lately!
I have a desktop on Windows XP and laptop on Windows Vista. They are both connected to the internet wirelessly through Sky Broadband (standard modem router that they send you through in the post).
My question is, how can I set up a network between the two PCs to share files, music libraries etc. I have had no luck via the Microsoft or Sky websites. What would be really good as well is to get the desktop to talk to the printer that is plugged in to the laptop.
Or am I just pushing me luck?!0 -

I remember doing that I while back, but unfortunately the laptop and PC could not 'see' each other still. Not sure if I was doing something wrong or if it was to do with the different Windows operating platforms?0

yeah if computers are on same workgroups then id say it could be the firewalls still blocking them from being seen0
