eBay/ebid 10 a day challenge - any joiners?

Hi and Happy new year!
I had a loverley 3 weeks off from ebay, but listed again on the 28th as I want to declutter....
I am NOT going to buy anything on ebay, as I am going to pay off the new camera that I bought in the sales - oh got it down from £520 to £308 with loads of free extras so he is going to be sen out to haggle far more this year.
- he is a big dutch bloke and his method is to stare at the item and go ' I dont want to pay that for it. I want to pay less'!!!
I relisted all my cds on amazon as the lowest price and they have been flying out like hotcakes.
Thankyou for keeping me going last year. I really have to get a grip on our finances and stop my spending on absolute unnecessary rubbish - oh and loads tonnes of weight, and move house......
LHB.x0 -
oops, that should be lose tonnes of weight (not literally, but about 3 stone would be amazing. managed 2lb so far!!).
Last year I spent nearly as much as I made on ebay. This year, I am not going to put anything on my watch list.
Floxxie, I like your idea of paying off the mortgage interest. Once I have paid off the camera, I will join you on that one. My statement should come in in late January and I will work it out then.
Cheers.

I love that statement "I don't want to pay that for it", longhotbath, thats absolutely brilliant!
Floxxie - I'm confused about the title ... what was it (v embarrassed here....).
Anyway, I've just had a little bit of a clearout in the room that will one day be the master ensuite, which is where a lot of magazines/ebay stuff/ carp resides. I've just dumped stuff in there without tidying, and because I finally decided to list some v old free weights on freecycle, I took half an hour to tidy and chuck - its great! Some stuff to the garage to be taken to the tip for hi-tech goods, a bit to be stored in the garage anyway including Christmas goods, one bag to be taken to the charity shop cos I *know* I'll never sell it, a bit of rubbish, a bit of recycling, I'm really pleased.
As far as what the money's going to, I'm in the £1000 in 100 days challenge, and the Pay off £20k by Christmas 2009 challenge, and all the bits I do are towards that. Every £500 of extra cash I get (ie apart from the job) goes to pay off the mortgage - its a Nationwide tracker, so I can reclaim that money if things get desperate and I really need to. Currently I'm up to £456.90 since mid-November (this stuff really does add up!) and I've just sold another book on amazon, so hopefully I'll pay off another £500 before the end of this month.
Thanks all!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hi Karmacat,
I did exactly the smae thing with our ensuite. 6 years later - we sorted out the stuff and found that the shower tray leaked, the power shower was defunct, and even had a leak from the piped to the loo on Christmas Day whilst carving the turkey. We now remember why we stopped using it!!!!
Good luck with clearing yours out. my OH is looking forward to his first shower in years, in about 2 weeks!!:rotfl:0 -

Hi LHB,
Good to see you back. Fantastic approach by Dutch bloke; am going to try it out myself when I have to buy something (which I hope is not this year as want to keep my pennies!)
Would love you to join my mortgage interest challenge. I've posted it on the MFW board - its just me at the moment. I don't think people understand the challenge; they are not seasoned DFWers! Decided that as I am on a tracker, the interest will be substantially lower than last year so I might actually have a chance of completing the challenge :rotfl:
Karmacat,
I was going to change the title to somthing interesting/funny but couldn't think of anything so just removed the 'list 10 a day' and added 'part 2'. I follow the challenges that you have signed up for and they are amazing! It's a great idea paying off part of the mortgage especially if you are on a tracker.
Will catch up during the week. Children back to pre/school on Tuesday so should have a couple of hours to myself to get this challenge moving in the right direction.

Thanks Floxxie - can I ask you how you change the title to a thread, in step by step detail? There's a tiny one I started ages ago, that I'd love to change/delete, and I can't, it bugs me.
Longhotbath - eek! Mine doesn't have the fittings yet .... in the sales particulars, its described as a dressing room, it has a humongous airing cupboard thats *made* for fitting a shower into, and a couple of wardrobes, I kid you not, tho the floor area is still very respectable.
I'm in trouble - still haven't done the listing today! And I'm hungry and am steaming tatties right now, so its officially afternoon for me. Oops.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Ok Karmacat,
Go to the post that has the title on it (presumably the first one) and click edit, and click edit again and if you move up your title should be there (hope I'm making sense). Click and change. Hope it works.

Hi Purpleroses, feel free to join in again. I think we have all enjoyed the break from eBay and I am continuing to enjoy the break until at least Monday although five of the items I relisted have sold so will have to get back to packing today and someone is coming to collect an item today so I suppose I had better hoover the hall carpet....aggghhh, hate eBay already!! :rotfl:
When you say pick up again, do you mean eBay?
