    Hi all,
Im trying to have a bit of a clear out and wondered if anyone ever has any success selling clothes and shoes? I have some new things with labels on and want to get rid of but some of them too nice to put to charity. I was going to chuck on at 99p and hope for best but some of the tops with labels cost around £30 new last year so Im not sure if I should try for higher. Im putting everything on at 99p at mo until i get hang of it (although am only selling new stuff so not sure if best idea!) Also, I have a brand new coat thats still got labels but its been in wardrobe for a while so think I should maybe get it dry cleaned (or should I not bother as might not sell anway?) I used to smoke (albeit not in my bedroom) but am worried about anything maybe smelling of smoke a bit (until i stopped I hadnt realised how disgusting it smells.) Any comments would be great.

    hi sunshine
yes i have had some success selling things with tags - very easily, shoes, clothes. and some things which are hardly worn - kids stuff and ladies clothes/shoes. i seem to find that people like the labels - so anything from Next right through to escada - but as long as its a label then people buy. saying this though: my friend sold 4 pairs of boys shorts from asda and they were fairly worn. suppose you just need the right buyer. i am growing in confidence and still find it hard to believe people buy my stuff.
today i have posted 30 items and still have 8 more to post tomorrow.
    must list later!
    xx

I mostly list clothes and shoes as I don't have room to keep all mine and keep having clear-outs when I buy more things. Most good things I start at £4.99, especially if it still has the tags and most of my items do tend to sell.

Did lots and lots of Amazon listings last night and have some ebay things finishing tomorrow

hi jesarose... im interested that you say you start at 4.99. i have been starting at 99p - do you think i should be bit bolder? i have 2 items at moment starting at 2.50 and already have bids. i guess i dont have the confidence that peeps will want them.

also can i ask a general question to all?

its about postage. im sure im not getting it right. i sort of estimate the postage based on other items i see similar and use their postage cost. what is the best way to approach this do you think? and the printing off the postage - is that the easiest way to do it? im trying to analysis my costs and sort of lost track :-(
    thanks

go for it mrscmr. I don't list many things below £4.99 now unless its something i just want rid of. The best thing to do with postage is just to weigh your item with packaging and check it on the royal mails website for uk and worldwide so you don't make it too low.doesn't take long at all.

Im too apprehensive about putting anything on for more than 99p incase they dont sell and i end up with loads of listing fees and no sales. Sure Ill pluck up the courage to up the prices a bit when I get used to it.

As Purple says - I only do 99p listings when its something I want to get rid of. If you can see that similar items have sold for decent prices you should definately go for slightly higher prices. A listing starting at £1.00 is the same price as one starting at £4.99 as there are certain price ranges which determine the start price.

I have a copy of the Royal Mail price guide printed off and it tells you what a package would cost between certain weights, then I just add £1 on to that for packaging

Here is the link to the royal mail Pricing Made Easy Guide http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/jump1?catId=400147&mediaId=89000749- just click on the link with that title and download the PDF document

I've just done some repricing on Play and Amazon. Will do a few listings on those tonight but not feeling great so ebay will have to wait for a day or so
