  • Just nipping back on - forgot to say earlier to MSDiva, (((hugs))) to your friend - I am sure he must very much appreciate you being there for him.

MrsMix - good to meet you too & put a face to the name...:) & also a small world isn't it (in relation to the she-devil, lol). Hope this morning helped a bit. Thank you for the cuppa :)
PenPen, I must make some more Rocky Road, the problem being that I then eat it all... !! I agree, I think it's a bit of a long time to be out of school in Year 11. My DD's did their 1 week work experience in year 10 which I think is more appropriate.
Mummysaver, I was thinking it was all quiet with some people too - I know life takes over but we do worry!!! Hope Poppy is enjoying being with her OH.

Sitting here debating whether to go & have a mooch in town, as I'd like to buy a couple of tops now that I know where my Uni placement should be (just waiting for them to make contact back & arrange introductory visit). I'm feeling very happy about it though :) If I don't go out I'll end up sitting on the sofa not doing anything, lol!! (in that sort of mood....)

DH has just been watching crashing stock markets on t.v. and been talking to me about how everything seems to be collapsing at once!

Making home made burgers tonight with mash and green veg in the Remoska.

Have flu jabs booked for four of us tomorrow afternoon and sitting wrapped up in a fleece as I am freezing.

Maybe a hot cup of tea will warm me up.

    Welcome to Grimbo .:j

The lad's father should definately be reported as the remark about the cricket bat sounds like a threat to me.

Mummysaver yes they can do it (use a TA) but should they well thats an entirely different matter............ The TA has a very important role in school now but are not qualified to teach on a regular basis. Huge debate about this on the TES website. There are an awful lot of teachers that cannot find a job and would welcome even two days permanent work each week. Could say more but won't at the mo....
Pen Pen am in total agreement with you re your daughter. Very late and very long. Just asked DH and he said in his experience schools that do have their Y11's undertaking work experience have them do so for 1 week.
Am still trying to work out M6/M1 dilemma Still not ready but have the industrial quantities of slap ready to be well slapped on!!!

I agree totally hun as I am one of them.I am in now way blaming the HTLAs or cover supervisors as they are merely doing the jobs they have been given to do, however I am currently waiting on the phone to the HALIFAX to try and get a mortgage payment holiday, due to lack of work:(:(I would do any job at all to make ends meet, but as teaching is the only thing I have been trained to do, it's all I ahve on my CV, and shops and offices wont take me on as they know I wont stay as soon as the supply work comes back in :(
Just off to the DFWB board:o :o

    Afternoon all.

:bdaycake:Happy Birthday Squishy and SarahShattered :bdaycake:

More shenannigans with the GP surgery; I tried to email repeat prescription requests for both myself and Mr LW, as I usually do, and their email link is down. So will print the emails out, and we'll have to drop them in next Tuesday (the next day Mr LW is on Earlies) and hopefully pick them up next Friday (he's on Earlies again that day). It's a good job I always order our repeat meds in plenty of time!

Went to our favourite pub last night - they're doing a fancy dress do on 31st, and the landlord was trying to get us to go. Not really sure about that, I don't really "do" parties, but if we do go, I don't want to have to spend out on costumes. So what I thought was, I'd wear stuff I already have - long black dress, black lacy shawl, Granny Weatherwax boots, and take my broomstick (yes, I DO have one, it was used for our Handfasting). :o All I'd need to get is the hat. Racking my brains for what Mr LW could wear - he's not one for "funny" costumes, we thought his moleskin trousers, tweed jacket and tweed cap - like "I tried to turn him into a toad, and I got Toad of Toad Hall". It's appropriate in a way too, as TOAD is a Database Administrator tool that he uses a lot in his work. Anyway, we'll see, I may yet chicken out of it altogether.

Oops, I've rattled on a bit - I'll shut up now.

    Have a good day everyone.

Just popped back before I take Dad, DD and me for our flu jabs.

My Neuro has decided that I need a weeks course of steroids. Just been up to the GP to get them. And he says, no work next week.

Got back to the car, and had a parking fine:mad: Couldn't get in a disabled space, so I parked in a patients only one and was in so much pain I forgot to put up my badge. Having to write an appeal letter now, otherwise it's £40:eek: It was a genuine mistake, hope they believe me.

Then when I left the hospital, I was on the roundabout, and this t**t in a 4 x 4 comes straight onto the roundabout and has the nerve to blast his horn and shout at me! Not a good morning..:o

    Hope it improves this afternoon.

  • Not having a good day.

Had a bad night. Little bear has been very 'that way out' today. Usually he is a darling, but I don't think he is as well as he would like. His appetite is a bit hit and miss.

Didn't make it to mums and tots, but I made myself take him to the local shop. I bought a large quantity of chocolate, which I am eating.

Tea tonight will be the casserole from yesterday (which was extremely pleasant) with curry powder and frozen peas added with rice in Tefal thingy. I am pleased, because when I am this bad it would normally be a takeaway, but slowly I am getting there.

    Hugs to all.

DD finishes school today for 3 weeks - 2 weeks' work experience then half term. Is it just me who thinks this is excessive at this point in her Y11 GCSEyear

Have a great day, Penny. x[/quote]

My DD is also in year 11 they did their work experience the last two weeks of year 10 which worked out well they normally are getting a bit fed up as the year ends so she looked forward to something different.

    Waves to everyone!

I haven't been on here in ages (probably since I left work to go on maternity leave actually), so just thought I'd pop in and say hi.

I have read through all of today's thread, but have forgotten everything I was going to say to people, so sorry guys! I do only have 1 week and 5 days officially left of my pregnancy, so hopefully my brain will come back soon.

Happy birthday to the birthday people!

I'm having a bit of a downer day and I'm not entirely sure why. I feel bored and lonely at home. At the same time, the few people I could ring up and actually go and see I'm not as I can't be bothered to make an effort to get out of the house, gosh how bad does that sound?! One, I don't like driving and barely fit behind the wheel and two, I can't just ask them to come to me when they are the ones with the kiddies already! Plus, along with being bored, I'm not sure I want company. Lordie, I'm such a moaner!! Can't win at the moment, but being so big, I can't even get the energy to sweep up the house as that kills my back.

I thought it would be so much fun being off work, but it's not all it's cracked up to be, but at the same time, I am so glad I'm not trundling into London as the journey is so long.

Miss bf while he is at work, pathetic huh? Especially as he may be around more as his boss' company seems to be doing really bad at the moment, and I think he may be laid off and off course, everyone needs money, esp when I'm not working! He hasn't even been paid for last month yet or any of his expenses since August. Not good!

So now on top of everything else, I'm feeling like we shouldn't be doing anything or spending any money, just in case everything goes really bad. I avoid the news at all costs now cos it scares me. I don't remember the bad times the last time around, but it appears being the frugal person and saving hard for our house and putting aside a bit in savings, may not be enough to get us through the bad times.

On a plus note, had an antenatal appointment this morning and baby is doing absolutely fine, so I'm just longing for her to make an appearance now.

On a OS note, we are having leftover lamb which I found in the freezer, now I just need to find the recipe I usually use for leftover lamb.

I also have enriched dough in the bm and am planning on making chelsea buns with them, but not I'm not sure I have the energy to do so. Oh man, I need to get a grip, I have the baby blues way too early! :o
