I've just posted this on the Savings Board...so thought I would put it on here as well ...the remark about the shirt is because they are all complaining about Martin's choice of shirt :D .

'Don't know what to say...except to keep your chin up Martin.

I've been onto the site in the early hours and seen some of the posts from people who are totally desperate...I'm lucky that I have never been in that position, but whose to say it would never happen to me?....at least I know that I could come on here and there would be someone to listen...day or night...

Most of us are grown ups...make our own decisions...you can't blame one person for a global downturn...

And I'm definately in a minority here cos I lurrrvvveee your shirts Martin!:D

You take care of yourself...big friendly hug ...'

Well, I have just watched the video clip and was disgusted by the way that Jon Snow let rip at Martin.
I have emailed Channel4 suggesting that Jon Snow issues a public apology to Martin Lewis for the way in which he conducted this programme and for the obvious lack of research before doing so.
    Viva Martin!

I had to turn that video off half way through too. What a pointless piece of rubbish. Jon had researched so well that he didn't even know what the site here was called. What a p*#t.
Anyway I think Martin is doing a great job and I love this site. :money:
Sadly, you don't have any badges yet but keep trying! See what you could get........... oh boo hoo I am crying into my wine. :D

I would like to add my support for Martin. This site has saved me lots of money over the years and Old Style has ensured a supply of home made, inexpensive, tasty and healthy treats are served up regularly at meal and snack times :D

IMO the 'small print' such as This site does not constitute financial advice blah blah blah has always been very clear and Martin has always indicated that his articles are his opinion and not advice.

Anyway - I've just made a batch of Twinks hobnobs and offer Martin a cuppa and a hobnob at my house anytime :D

r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!
I can't promise that all my replies will illicit this response :p
  • Martin you are a gent among scoundrels, you offer sensible advice but tell people it is up to them to decide whether they follow it or not.

i for one (amongst many here) am glad you are here to offer your advice, you have helped me save money, gain friends and not panic about my future as i know there is something that can be done and we now have savings as well!!!!!

Just wanted to say how disgusted I was by the Jon Snow interview - I usually like Channel 4 News but may switch to another News broadcaster now !
I , like many others , have saved a lot of money over the last few years as a result of Martin's site . Risks are always explained & it is up to us all to weigh these up & minimise them .
I have passed on details of this website to numerous friends/family members & will continue to do so . With the current credit crunch , I have dusted off my "Thrifty ways" book for bedtime reading & shall be visiting this site for even more tips on a more regular basis .

    Thanks Martin . :T
  • I haven't watched the interview cos i'll only get mad and i'm mad enough at the moment lol  PMT and all that, OH very timidly bought me some chocolate last night so hes in the good books at the mo ;)

I'd also like to add my support to Martin, i think he's fab and everything he does to help people with their money worries etc. I dont know what i'd have done without this site, particularly the OS forum. I joined 4 yrs ago when i left home at 19 with my 3 yr old DD and have learned so much from everyone, i honestly doubt i would have coped otherwise, from a money and budgetting point of view.

Take no bloody notice of 'em Martin - we love you!!!

Since finding this site I have sorted out the finances, moved house with out incurring too much extra cost, have slashed the food & cleaning budget, now cook far more from scratch than ever before and have been lucky enough to join a community on here where we are there for each other and provide each other with help and support.

Martin please keep up the good work dont be put off by the negative comments I am sure around the site at the moment the positives far outway the negatives.
