I think an apology from Jon Snow and Channel 4 would be appropriate.
  • Usually a lurker, but just had to say that this site has made me think quite differently about money, and saved me quite a bit in the process! Usually when money, bank accounts, etc are discussed they go right over my head but Martin and his team are able to explain issues in everyday language and make it fun into the bargain, so I for one am very grateful for this site and long may it continue. Please keep up the good work for everyone's sake, not to mention our pockets.
Thanks again for all your efforts - you really are appreciated.

  • I actually think Martin came off well in this interview. Jon Snow is a journalist and challenged Martin as such. We shouldn't be surprised about that. Martin was able to answer in a measured and confident way, presenting the facts and rejecting the accusations.

I love this site and it has undoubtedly helped us save lots of money over the past year. Thank you Martin!

  • Martin, you're a star and a gentleman, please don't let any negative comments from this site get you down. There are more people on here that appreciate what you do then idiots who want to hurt you.

Take care and remember you do a brilliant job and a heck of a lot of people wouldn't be as well off as they are if it wasn't for you.

Sending you big squishy hugs (if only i could hug you in person *sigh*)

    xx
  • Jon Snow clearly isn't or doesn't have to be careful with his money, and has probably never even looked at this site. As for pointing the finger of blame at Martin??? Jon Snow is supposed to be an investigative journalist?? Then I suggest he does his homework next time. Maybe he should direct his line of questioning at the government instead! Alternatively, Martin for Chancellor, or even Prime Minister!! :T Or if that fails, my Gran cos she's full of wisdom and MSE advice at 94!!

Personally I think he and his team are heroes and gentlefolk with out whom we would all be, in so many different ways a lot poorer.

    Thank you all.

  • I want to say a big THANK YOU to Martin and everyone involved in MSE. We (hubby and I) don't have debts (thank heavens) and because of this site we never will. I have increased our income - Mystery Shopping, Pinecone etc. Have been collecting the receipes and cooking from scratch, been using washing soda and STARDROPS:j Thanks to this site we have cut back on our outgoings by approx £300 per month. We are on a very tight budget - I work part-time, hubby medically retired due to neuro condition - only benefits we are eligible for is DLA, so £300 is a lot for us to save. I would like to put what I think of the Jon Snow assault on Martin but bad language is not permitted on this forum:D
  • I think the interview is being a little exaggerated.

The interview was short, Jon appeared aggressive; Martin came across well and handled the situation brilliantly. He put his (sadly needed) defensive forward in a constructive manner as well as offering invaluable advice to those affected by the Icesave situation. I certainly heard what Martin said.

Not an easy interview, obviously unexpected, but a credit to Martin IMO. :)

    Agree.

And have seen much more challenging interviews. Martin actually managed to get his points across! Some don't manage to do this as they are constantly interrupted. And well done for answering the actual questions; I can't stand it when people side step the challenge. :T
  • This site (especially this board), is not about getting rich quick - it's about living within your means, getting the most out of life and being as happy as you can be. It's about treating people with courtesy and respect, and taking resposibility for yourself. It's about the realisation that there is an awful lot in this world which can't be bought. I think Martin's greatest achievement is that he has made people look at whether spending money makes them happy, and made them realise that it doesn't................ TBH, at the moment I think that the media has a lot to answer for. The reportage on the curent global financial situation is littered with words like meltdown, armageddon, warzone etc. The media are whipping up the panic. Jon Snow perhaps needs to look closer to home for someone to blame.
