An Old Style gesture of support for Martin

I usually just lurk on this forum but feel obliged to add my support for Martin & his team.
This is by far my favourite website and I love the forum especially old style. I have learnt so much from using this site so chin up Martin!0 -
Martin,
Ignore the nasty comments, we still love you, you have helped me to save a fortune during the time I have been on here, I can now stretch a chicken over several meals and still dont have my heating on, you are fab :T dont let the bar stewards get you down

I'm sooo much better off since I joined this site and I thank Martin sooo much for that.
I hate the way interviewers conduct themselves - not allowing for the question to be answered before asking another. It's not as if Martin or anyone else has a crystal ball to be able to see whats going to happen.
Since Northern Rock, it has been reported by many about the £35,000 limit which has now increased to £50,000 so why didn't he move his money he would have had time!!
Makes me mad that reporters etc always look for a scapgoat!0 -
Martin,
Desperatley sorry though I am for those who look set to lose hard earned money, I cannot see that your site can be held in any way responsible.
You give sound and current information and advice. You enable people to make informed decisions .... but it is just that .... their decision based on the info available at a given time.
This perhaps is a wake up call to us all, not to sit back and be complacent, keep an eye on any investment/savings and any changes in the market.
Keep up the good work please. The lives of myself and my OH have been improved in so many ways as a result of this site.Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0 -
Don't post often, but felt the need to do so today.
Just watched this apauling interview, where one guest was completely interupted. No need to feel gutted Martin. You give the best advice possible and this global credit crunch is NOT you're personal responsibility.
I personally have saved hundreds and hundreds of pounds using your fantastic advice and that of this wonderful community that you have had the foresight to create.
There is just sooooo many things that I have learned about saving money that I NEVER knew existed out there and would NEVER have come across without this wonderful site and the total dedication of yourself and that of the members who are part of it and give of their time so freeley and genuinely.
I promise to make more of an effort in the future to contribute more as I find anything useful to post and would urge that anyone else who is like me and gets so much out of this site to do the same as a complete thank you to Martin for his effort and time.

Having read some of the posts on other threads criticising Martin - well I need to add my thanks for all this site has done to make me much more aware of how I'm dealing with my money now. Only wish it had been around years ago when I just spent because I could! I'd have saved hugely by not having a range of credit-cards and although my financial position now is fairly OK, it could have been so much better! Never mind, it's never too late to become more financially aware - so many thanks!Resolution:

... Martin sends his e-mails to 2.5 million people, whilst C4 news has a paltry 800,000 viewers!
this comment really puts things into perspective! I haven't watched it and cant be bothered - CH4 got nothing compared to the power of MSE!
I'm shocked by the negative comments on this site though. I've learned a lot of good stuff here but also read a lot of advice that I don't agree with/doesnt suit my lifestyle/don't like. Whether I do or do not follow any advice I find on this site is MY choice, my risk, my blame. Shame that those currently laying the blame on Martin just don't have the b*@@s to take responsibility for their own decisions.... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Just wanted to say I am a huge fan of martins and it is thanks to him, his team adn the wonderful people here on the MSE site that myself and my partner are almost out of debt.
I found this site jsut before my son was born in 2004 and have been on here practically everyday since. It offers fantastic advice and thanks to this site my little family has pulled through some of the roughest times we've seen. Even through redundancy and medical problems we were financially stable and able ot cope all through careful plannign and martins advice
I completely and whole heartedly support Martin and will continue to do so
Love this site, Keep your chin up Martin!!!! Your fans are here supporting you all the way

I've not seen the tv snippet, nor read the disparaging remarks on the threads BUT...
I have to agree that people have to take some responsibility for their own actions. Nobody held a gun to your head & forced you to sign up for one particular financial product over another.
I have been running my home for a fair few years, but still learn something new every time I sign in to MSE. Some of the advice is not applicable or relevent to me, other bits I chose to act on or dismiss because that is my choice.
May I suggest those folk who want to find someone to blame first look in the mirror? Leave the threads for those of us who want to get on with sorting out whatever mess we're in, with the support of Martin, the Mods & all like-minded posters.Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

As a couple who have a small limited disabled allowance to live on Martin and OS have greatly improved our lives in so many ways and have lifted us out of our depression.
We would like to sincerely say a big thank you, you are our life-line.
We dont wish to put you under pressure by saying that so would like to add that, if we have a major issue then we always seek information from more than one source.
