Went out for takeaway curry in a hurry and came back with 2 VCR's.
The wrong SEL was up high on a shelf...so high that the CS lady had to get a step ladder to read it! My OH has eagle eyes though LOL.
CS lady very nice, but Dept. Manager had to be called to authorise refund and was not a happy camper! Said "If you dont mind me asking...why did you purchase 2?" to which OH replied "because I thought buying 6 would have been taking the mick and I'm not greedy!"
Manager tried saying that the shelf was for stock purpose only and so r&r didnt apply. OH said well if its only for stock why is there a SEL at all? Manager had to conceed.
LOL - he has a nerve! Manager then proceeded to follow him around the store inspector Clouseau style, noting the prices of everything he looked at. Of course OH took the p*ss and examined all sorts of strange items...even smiled and waved at him LMAO!!
Curry was late home but a thoroughly good time had by all!!!
Thanks for the above LMAO at it, will remember the "why did you buy two" for future purchases at Mr Ts, still laffin ' cos i thought buying 6 would have been takin the mick' Wot a classic. :T0 -
Last week I bought the housework songs cd from a store, when I went to CS desk the price was checked on the poster but the CS lady had asked the duty manager who had said not to refund, she told us this and said she disagreed so she would call him if we wanted so she did. It took a while for him to turn up considering she had just seen him round the corner. We had an argument because he would only refund it or we could keep it not even the difference back!!! It transpired during the argument he didn't even know the R&R policy either!!!
We eventually left after him saying he was the only person in the store and nobody could override his decision, e-mailed CS told to go back speak to the manager and get the refund we did and guess who was the manager again :-) I asked if he'd had a change of heart on the poster being wrong because they had moved them and about the CS telling us to go back he then took down my details and said I'll speak to them on monday and as a goodwill gesture they might tell me to give the difference back!! I then showed him the poster again to which he said yes but it wasn't the sel so it doesn't count. In the end he refused to get the CS manager who has refunded me on that principle before because she couldn't override his decsion and that he may look into why I go to stores looking for misprices when I told him to phone the other store because they had refunded me on the same principle the week before.
He also said he wouldn't let me speak to the store manager.[FONT=georgia, bookman old style, palatino linotype, book antiqua, palatino, trebuchet ms, helvetica, garamond, sans-serif, arial, verdana, avante garde, century gothic, comic sans ms, times, times new roman, serif]A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove that you don't need it

arae24 wrote:Just to update you all. I have just had a phone call from the duty manager, they have just investigated the incident and the women on the customer service desk are sticking to there story about the ticket never having been there. The manager also stated that he cant prove they are lying, but as a gesture of good will they offered me a instore voucher to the value of the meat £55.00. I declined the gesture as I was not after financial gain. And went on to explain that it was the principle, and that if I had acted in a dishonest way instore the police would be involved. The next time it happens I will photograph the SEL and we will see how they explain that if it goes missing..
Maybe even ask head office that "if" you happened to have a photo of their staff doing this in this store would they want it first before you send it to a trading standards or a newspaper?? I guess they might then advise staff to stop doing this.0 -
I am off to Devon tomorrow where am not known by CS. Looking forward to a good RR spree taking care not to use my clubcard or credit card. Cash is king when it comes to RRs. Not only that but feels good when they put it back into your hand.0

Tip for anyone that's worried about getting a devious member of staff, just turn around and say I'll come with you to show you as staff have previously attempted to remove the label so you no longer trust them - simple really & quite true too and avoids any problems.
Alternatively, once paid for goods, take your receipt and show this to a person on the shop floor and say can you tell me why you have lower price on this shelf and yet charged me more? When they acknowledge that you have been overcharged tell them to explain it to CS - that way it's already been verified by a member of staff before you've even asked for your R&R.0 -
saintscouple wrote:I do wonder what they would say if you went to CS desk with the product and its sel "Just thought i would save you a trip to check the price?".
Now that would be interesting...
PMSL here! Plenty of amusing stories tonight. LOVE the one where, in response to the question, "why did you buy 2" answered, "I thought buying 6 would be talking the !!!!!!".
Just think, if only Mr T got it right every time, the world would be a much duller place.

I had a slightly difficult one this week.
Found Chicken Breast 8 Packs, Healthy Living ones with big yellow SEL down to about 5.40 per kg but all packs still showing £6.79. Took four.
Had a couple of Mackerel for good measure too.
Total of about £37.00
When to CS and woman recognised me and clearly wasn't pleased to see me (again). Apparently, I go in and get £30 or so worth of stuff every week. I wasn't sure how to play it, as it was the first time I'd been challenged in this way. Often have to prove the point of the overcharge but haven't been "had" like that before. So I simply said that I didn't know about that and waited while she went off to the shelves to check and then to get the manager.
Having had a word with him out of my earshot, didn't seem to have any difference on his decision to refund me as, in his words, "The Gentleman's right".
I thought I was going to have a battle and be banned, so I was getting my Pocket PC ready to record the conversation to replay to Head Office. But, he followed company policy and I left the store with some more freezer fodder.
It did put me off a little though and when I next went into a store (not the same one) a few days later, I stopped myself picking up three legs of lamb and got just the one (shameful I know). I am now looking forward to a decent Sunday Roast tomorrow.
Incidentally, I find my XDA2 to be a fabulous tool for Tesco shopping as I can keep up to date, in real time with the misprice thread as I can surf and shop at the same time. I can even photograph the SELs in case there's any confusion!
Thanks to all posters - Great forum.0 -
I Have Just Been To Durham Tesco Armed With My List Of Misprices And All Of Them In The Shop Were Right. The Shop Was Quite Quiet As It Was 8.00 On A Saturday Night. There Were No Posters Around The Cds Or Dvd Section And Would Be Grateful If Anyone Could Advise Me Where They Usually Are. Are They Specifically Advertising The Dvd With A Picture Of The Dvd Or Just A Chart List??? I Did Note On Some Of The Offers That They Expire On Certain Dates, Eg 2.2.06. Is The Expiry Date The Best Date To Go In The Stores To Find Out The Misprices??? I Was Very Disappointed Not To Find Anything. Tomorrow I Am Going To Tour Boots In The Area After A Very Rewarding Afternoon!!Just about to give up!0

Considering the technology involved these days, and the Big Brother aspect regarding clubcards etc... when they are processing the r&r, is there a button that they press stating "overcharge"? I assume there must be??
In which case, if they were really concerned about not overcharging people (as they claim to be) wouldn't you have HO people studying reports of these overcharges and issuing edicts to all the branches to ensure relevant SELs/posters etc are removed?
I cannot believe that with something like the Dyson (the cost of it) that there are still incorrect SELs showing in stores 2 or even 3 (lost track of time) days later. Well, I can believe it actually...
The CD posters dated 26/12 - my local store were still showing these on Thurs (so I picked up a couple - thanks!). Someone has posted their store still has the poster up. Wouldn't you have thought (if they really were that bothered about price integrity) that they would have got it sorted 2 days later at the latest, by issuing an instruction to all stores to remove the posters?
Perhaps I am missing the point?!!?AMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0024 come and join us :hello: make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the Ebay and other auctions, Car Boot and Jumble Sales Board0 -
I was looking in the meat section last week when i spotted some meat with a SEL £6.48kg-packs stickered at £6.98kg,however they wouldnt scan in the price-checker scanners. As i was putting the offending pack back on the shelf, one of the staff was behind me with one of the trolleys+scanner.I asked "innocently" "can you tell me what the price of this meat is,as the pack price is different from the shelf price".The lady replied "just take it,if you are charged the higher price go straight to the CS desk who will give you your money back & you can keep the meat".Thanks i replied i didnt know that .what a nice lady.
AS I SAID A MINUTE AGO I COULD NOT FIND ANY SEL UNDERCHARGING COMPARED TO THE PRICE PACK BUT I DID SEE IT THE OTHER WAY ROUND WHERE THE SEL PRICE WAS MORE THAN THE PRICE PACK, LIKE THE EXAMPLE ABOVE. AM I CORRECT IN ASKING FOR A REFUND WHEN THE PRICE ON THE PACKET IS LESS THAN THE SEL??? AS THIS SEEMS TO BE UNDERCHARGING RATHER THAN OVERCHARGING ????? ANY COMMENTS WOULD BE HELPFUL AS I AM NEW TO THIS.Just about to give up!0
