Tesco misprice policy discussion area II

Ok, just posted to finds in misprice thread - felt i run a marathon getting the r&r in Newbury store though.
Product was the big rolled vacum packs of beef - priced £5.62/kg - sel £3.76/kg Joints are priced in region of £20 - didn't want to be greedy just the 1 pack for me.
**For the record, i used to work in this store, left some 6 years ago, and don't live in the town anymore**
Went to CS desk - very pleasant lady - 'I'll get someone to check it for you' - lady with 'team leader' badge went off, 5 mins later 'Sorry there is no sel, you have been charged correctly'. i went with her to the shelf, what a surprise... the sel had been removed. i adsvd the sel was there, which she replied 'couldn't have been'.
In that case i said, as evidence that i'm not the liar you have just implied i am, can you please call the manager?
I see a security camera pointing sown this isle and we can see exactly a) if the sel was there like i said, and b) if it was there, who removed it!!.
"wait by the cs desk please sir, and i'll call a manager" she said..
..seemed like ages i was waiting, then my old manager turned up, he didn't seem to recognise me, and he immediately offered the difference in £/kg which would turn out to be a £5.03 refund.
The lady who took me to the shelf with no sel, then mentioned - the sel must have been moved whilst you were at the checkout, this is why we're offering you the difference.
That was just the words i wanted to hear... so here i went
"Thank you, you have now admitted the sel was there, which means you did advertise this product for that price, and as your policy states i am entitled to a full refund, and keep the product for free"
The lady replied "well you would know the policy, wouldn't you, seeing that you used to work here?"
But before i could reply, my old manager said "just give him his money back" and stormed off.

I do wonder what they would say if you went to CS desk with the product and its sel "Just thought i would save you a trip to check the price?".
Now that would be interesting...0 -
I was looking in the meat section last week when i spotted some meat with a SEL £6.48kg-packs stickered at £6.98kg,however they wouldnt scan in the price-checker scanners. As i was putting the offending pack back on the shelf, one of the staff was behind me with one of the trolleys+scanner.I asked "innocently" "can you tell me what the price of this meat is,as the pack price is different from the shelf price".The lady replied "just take it,if you are charged the higher price go straight to the CS desk who will give you your money back & you can keep the meat".Thanks i replied i didnt know that
.what a nice lady.

Odd_Fellow wrote:The point is that, PROBABLY, it was £174 at one time, then it went up and the plebs failed to take away the point of sale material. Yarmouth are pretty good on getting it right with non-food items at the moment. Best to check when offers have just started or finished.
Oh, I wouldn't say Yarmouth is that good on getting prices right.I got my Prodigy cd from there! Yarmouth has a member of staff for each section dedicated to price integrity. Some departments are definitely worse than others. The DVD/CD dept., for example, frequently makes big mistakes. Electricals seems to do a lot better. The member of staff who works on PI in BW&S is really on the ball, though. I've yet to find a mispriced bevvy in Yarmouth!

Lol. Now that would be interesting, especially at one or two stores I know, were they try everything to get out of R+R. I should imagine their response."This is not your property, you have no right to touch this, you probably printed this yourself, how do I know if this is from here, YOU'RE BANNED. LOL0 -
Silly question.....but here we go.....
If you go to c/s for r+r for overprice.... you mention that the sel is lower than price paid for goods...
what if they say 'then why did you buy it, knowing it was ovepriced?'
I've always wondered why they don't question you about that.0 -

I'd just say I didn't know I'd get charged a higher price than the label on the shelf. I only found out when I checked my receipt!
If there are two different prices, I'd argue that I thought I would be charged the lower price, as it goes against the Consumer Protection Act to charge the higher price when two price indications are given for the same product. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

Upto yet this has never been said to me,but the thought has crossed my mind also.Personally i would reply "i thought i would be charged the lower price at the checkout".0 -
OH bagged 2 Phillips Stereo VR550 VCR's. SEL £44.97 scanned at £49.97
Went out for takeaway curry in a hurry and came back with 2 VCR's.
The wrong SEL was up high on a shelf...so high that the CS lady had to get a step ladder to read it! My OH has eagle eyes though LOL.
CS lady very nice, but Dept. Manager had to be called to authorise refund and was not a happy camper! Said "If you dont mind me asking...why did you purchase 2?" to which OH replied "because I thought buying 6 would have been taking the mick and I'm not greedy!"
Manager tried saying that the shelf was for stock purpose only and so r&r didnt apply. OH said well if its only for stock why is there a SEL at all? Manager had to conceed.
LOL - he has a nerve! Manager then proceeded to follow him around the store inspector Clouseau style, noting the prices of everything he looked at. Of course OH took the p*ss and examined all sorts of strange items...even smiled and waved at him LMAO!!
Curry was late home but a thoroughly good time had by all!!!0
