I had a bit of a mini lightbulb moment tonight driving back from a clients house. All of the cars were beeping at each other and racing to get home, a big black range rover was driving particularly menacingly behind me because I was careful at a roundabout. Going over a bridge I looked down and saw a barge tootling along on the canal, just before the sun had gone down, with a man on the tiller, just easing it down the canal. I had a flash of feeling as free as that - fresh air in my lungs, all wrapped up and cosy, no cares or worries, no rush or stress. It hit me like a jolt. No I don't want to give it all up and live on a barge! but I am going to carry on working and saving and making money this way so that I can be free of my mortgage and spend more time doing what I want to do and just feeling free and carefree.. what a lovley feeling that would be!

You are so right EG, that's what it's all about really :T.

    Sorry about your grandma :(

Sorry about your Gran. Glad you have lots of good memories though, and she didn't suffer any nasty and long-drawn-out illness.

You're right about 'life'. Try and get things sorted so you can sidestep the rat race - what is the point of rushing through life and missing out on the little pleasures? After all you never know how long you've got, so better enjoy it while it lasts!
  • Sorry to hear about your grandma earthgirl :(
I totally hear you on getting out of the rat race and enjoying a simpler life- definitely one of my big goals in all this too!

    Thanks everyone.

Feeling a bit more positive about my grandma, and glad that she didn't suffer.

I have managed to op £300 from my pay last month, and some ms payments.

I have got some money to bank, and I've counted up the change into bags - £46 so I'll take that in next week when I have 3 ms in town.
I need to overpay my ebay money too.

Today I have 2 clients - one a double. I also need to:

    1. collect precription for earthlet and request a repeat prescription
    2. hoover and wipe bathroom (the rest of the cleaning is done yipee!)
    3. make up a batch of baby food and freeze.
    4. plan for the weekend away visiting family in scotland and then train journey to my grans funeral.
    5. Cook omlette and wedges tonight.

    Hi All,

family visit to scotland was good, and then train journey to my grans funeral was a nightmare - which reminds me I am going to complain about it. The funeral was fine.

I didn't spend any money, and got a bulk purchase of tutoring lessons paid, so I managed to op another £700, bringing my total for march so far to £1000.

I didn't manage to get it paid off before I was thirty, but I am trying to get it paid off before I turn 31 - so that I am still 30 and mortgage free (even if its just for a week or two!)

I've posted my ebay parcels, and completed a private lesson. Now I need to change and feed the baby, feed us and tidy up. I've decided that I need to make more use of my evenings as I am going back to work soon, and will have to get used to working of an evening!

 This has backfired as I was working until about 10 last night and then I just couldn't drop off to sleep! I need a happy medium between laziness and downtime!

Yesterday I did 3 ms - and the reports took me all evening :( I also did my food shop using vouchers for the most part, so spent £8 on toiltries and the like. I did my shop and scan, a tutoring lesson and took earthlet to the soft play and met a friend for coffee.

I don't plan to use my car until Tuesday now, so today is day one of sort out the house - but I think I'll start in the garden!

Hope you're not feeling too tired today hun. Howabout setting an alarm to tell you when to stop working in the evenings so you get some lazy time? We need you fit, healthy and awake. :)

If the weather's sunny go and do the garden EG :D The house is for cold and rainy days only.
Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck :)

    Thanks! I did just that!

The garden is now neat and tidy, my new strawberry pot (present from mum) is full of strawberry plants that were offshoots from last years, and I have planted some lettuce too. Earthlet loved playing in the garden and really loves his little push along bubble car!!

Today I've had a great nsd..
    • foraged/ got from the garden leeks, daffs and spinach.
    • Made baby food batch for the freezer
    • made naan bread, icecream and blackcurrant coulis
    • cleaned house
    • have a client come to the house.
I need to use my car now, as I am going to collect a basket for the front of my bike from freecycle. So thats me got a baby seat on the back and a baby cycle helmet with my shop and scan vouchers, so hopefully I can still do a bit of cycling, and put my bag in the basket on the front.

This weekend I have 3 private tuition clients :( and also plan to do some more ebay selling and some small business work.

Edit: Cash and cheques from tutoring cleared so another £450 oped, plus £80 interest on isa, so £1,530 oped in March so far :)!

Another great nsd yesterday - I'm on a roll!
Got a refund on some items that I bought on a ms, as I don't think i'll get refunded for them from the ms company - errr... muddled up the amounts I could spend, ooops!

I also worked through the first part of 'overhaul your finances' guide, as Itry to do every year, to make sure everything is ship shape. I got a new current account with £100 bonus and £50 cash back, sent some free texts and going to recycle an old camera and phone and use ohs "spare iphone" for mt camera and phone.

I did my 3 tutoring clients, but one has booked again for 10am today - I like my day off on a Sunday, but sure I can manage it if I try! Going to [STRIKE]finish the guide today, list stuff on ebay, walk to the post box, play with earthlet and going to a neighbours for tea.[/STRIKE]Edit, might do some small business work too
