I have dealt with people from the sub-continent in the sale of houses and cars. I don't know if they were Muslims. They do have a different attitude to negotiation than 'we' do. I have often found them very oppresive and insistent in their negotiation technique. I have always put this down to cultural differences.

You can always say no, and, on occasions, I have.
as the risk of sticking my neck out Dazco is right, some Muslims are renowned for this kind of behaviour. Until last year my sister was a mortgage advisor and the brokers she worked for had a specialist in sharia compliant mortgages. Sis commented that after hearing some of the problems caused by some of the Muslim clients with them dropping out on exchange day then offering a lower price she would never risk selling her house to anyone she knew to be Muslim.

And before anyone jumps down my throat in the couple of years she worked at that particular brokers she never had a single client of hers (of many different backgrounds and ethnic groups) behave in such a way.

I have to say I'm not a fan of pm's for pursuing arguments. If you can't say it in public don't say it.

Rather than the thread being deleted it might be more interesting to move it to DT.

White people probably do. But the impression I got was that the percentage chance of it happening was increased with Muslims. Ok?

    But that is the point.

We can all decide if we think that behaviour is scummy, or if it is being very market savvy.

If EAs and people on here say that they have been warned that this is more common with certain people then of course the impression is created that it is more likely to happen from that group. (But then there is a whole group of people who must think that this group is very market savvy and so should be applauded.)

I still maintain that without being racist people form stereotypes. So if a number of people from a group/ race/ ethnic minority act the same way then that characteristic could become a stereotype for the group. So members of a "group" may choose to be conscious of the image they are giving and consider the views that will be formed. Of course, it is their perogative to think "me, me, me" and not worry about any impression formed.

:DLike we all know that red heads have tempers:D

You did say you are more likely to have problems in house sales to muslims. "But the impression I got was that the percentage chance of it happening was increased with Muslims. Ok?" I said that estate agents told me it was not uncommon for muslims to reduce the price on completion day.

Trouble is that it's a slippery slope/fine dividing line. You have actually just said that you are more likely to have problems in house sales to Moslems. That has to be a suggestion that Moslems are morally inferior in this respect, and hence by your own definition it's racist. I expect you won't agree, but you see it's a pretty fine dividing line. Or, taken from another perspective, Muslims have great negotiating skills and business acumen

What you are saying is that you've had a bad experience dealing with a Moslem, and you are warning other people of this. Effectively, you are saying that it's better to sell to a white person. It's not that far off a sign in the window saying No Pakis.
Not at all, just get somekind of deposit when you stop showing other viewers the house. Our buyers solicitor said he had £5000 deposit from the buyer JUST TO PREVENT THIS SORT OF THING. He lied, he did not have the money. I would, of course, recommend this action for any buyer.

It may nevertheless be better not to allude to them, much better. Why? Peoples identity and culture are involved here, are you suggesting they should not be allowed some individuality and celebration of their roots?

Of course I find it unacceptable, too. There was a certain irony in what I was saying that seems to have gone past you. What I meant was that the initial offer was a bit too good to be true, and you were perhaps being a little naive in the first place. Sorry to spell it out.
The offer wasn't good, they beat us down. What would you say? No? Wake up.
