Same here. Transferred money out of my KE account on Monday morning, then paid for a CHAPS transfer for the remainder on Tues PM.

Neither has arrived. My main bank says no payments are pending and I cannot get through to KE - the line is constantly engaged. Where the hell is the explanatory statement on the website? There is just nothing from them!!!!!!

Martin - can someone at the FSA tell you how CHAPS transfers can legally just not happen when the bank is officially still operating!????
For everything else, there's MSE :T

I think you will find that no monies have gone through, any funds will be returned and you will have to go through the claim scheme to get your money back.
I did my transfers Monday night and they are back in my accounts, one I can see because the account was left open, two I can't as these are closed, but I have just spoken to Icesave & have been told the funds are there and the account will be reset ASAP.

I have to also say the Guy I have just spoken to was great, very polite and very helpful.

This is with KE not Icesave. Its only with Icesave I would need to go through the claims procedure.
  • I transferred a small chunk of money from KE on Tuesday morning by BACS (just in case I needed some money during the event of having to claim from FSCS). The payment showed up instantly on my KE statement so I thought it had gone through automatically. I did the same from my ICICI savings at the same time. Only one of those payments has now turned up in my account, and I am not taking any bets on which one it was that came through!

ING Direct are probably well aware that all transfers from KE have been blocked. They are basically apologising for this in their statement:

"Why was I not able to access my account?
We apologise for actions taken previously and we are committed to ensure you have full access to your savings at all times."
    http://www.kaupthingedge.co.uk/Includes/PDF/ING_Information.pdf

It would seem to me that this action of blocking transfers is illegal, but what can we do? I understand why they did it - a run on the bank is highly damaging and if the savings can be safeguarded then people panicking and withdrawing their money is pointless in retrospect - but is it their decision to make? It is our money! I'll just wait and see what happens with my money - whether it is returned to the KE account or the transfer will be processed next week.

This is one time I wished Martin has stuck to saving us money on toilet rolls than savings accounts.

I spoke with KE this morning as my CHAPS from 11am on 7th has not arrived. I was assured that it would arrive but no idea when. She also said it would not be recredited to KE account.

I don't know if these "assurances" are worth anything though. Right up until yesterday, even when the ING announcement had been made, their website was assuring us of how strong they were!

So I've paid £20 for chaps, now have to dip into o/draft until money arrives and am losing interest too! Doh!

    Just a thought...

Anybody know how we get a messge to Martin? With his status & contacts he should be able to get in touch with someone from KE (ING) who actually knows what's happening.
