Barclaycard fraud - happened to you?

Hi,
I've just received another e-mail from Barclaycard. It says that the message about me still using the old Morgan Stanley card when I ought to be using the new Barclaycard "...was sent in error and should be ignored.". There's no further explanation.
What is the error? That it wasn't me that continued to use the card but actually some fraudsters that somehow obtained the details of a card I'd already destroyed?
Or that they didn't want to show that transactions had been allowed on the Morgan Stanley card after the 22nd?
If the paperwork from Barclaycard doesn't arrive by Monday I think I shall also write a letter telling them exactly what I expect them to do...
Interesting.
I have continued to use my old Morgan Stanley card, waiting to see if it would stop working. I just like the way it looks! Anyway, I eventually received the email telling me that they had noticed I was still using it and asking me to use the new card instead: in my case that made perfect sense. And then I got the 'error' email!
The word 'clueless' would seem to be an understatement.0 -
Hi guys,
Quick update - I sent Barclaycard a secure message on Saturday asking them to confirm that I don't need to make any payments and no penalty fees will be incurred since the entire balance of the account consists of fraudulent transactions. I'll give them the 3 working days they say it should take to get a reply to that.
I tried looking for their terms & conditions on their website to see if they said anything about making payments against disputed transactions but I couldn't find them...0 -
Does anyone know why these muppets are charging me interest?
I received my first Barclaycard statement today since the switch from Morgan Stanley, and even though I have always paid MS off in full each month, and did so on the last statement, in good time; the statement received today includes interest, applied on 7 October.
I still don't actually have a new card, I've told them, but they're totally disinterested.
Is the Customer Services / Northampton address the best one to write to to firmly close this account?0 -

They don't listen: they have a script to stick to, and they read it. All call centres do, but at least most make a pretence of listening to you. When I was trying to talk to them about the fraud the other day the woman just kept repeating "wait for the dipute forms: Wait for the dispute forms. It would be better to wait for the dispute forms.", in increasingly flustered Indian English. (for the politically correct ..don''t flap, Indian English is a real dialect). We must be such frustrating customers to Barclaycard, because we actually divert from the standard conversation people are *meant* to have when they call!
As to firmly closing the account. I don't think they do anything firmly. Apart from !!!! up resoundingly. You could try calling them, of course, to ask for the right address. (Hysterical laughter)
I think (being serious for once) you will find a whole series of contact addresses on their website.

Hi
The same happened to me a week ago with my barclaycard,I used to have a morgan stanley card also till it was changed to barclaycard
I had used my card at a petrol station pump..pay and fill pump..
I know what you are going through and I am am waiting for my dispute forms oh and also after my card had been blocked well it should have been another transaction appeared so I had to contact BC again and ask why the transaction had happened when my card was so called blocked0 -
That beats all, transactions appearing AFTER your card has been blocked!
Received my new card today, which of course I can't use because my credit limit has been reached.
Still no dispute forms, of course. Why did I assume otherwise?
Has anyone thought of going to the media - Tony Hetherington in the mail, or Watchdog? I am not very up in these things, but some people can turn this sort of thing into an art form, I believe. I would love to see an in-depth on the incompetence, and just what the response is.

I'm getting tempted with a watchdog report as still no dispute forms, new card, or statement!
To see so many users having problems on here makes it very tempting.
On a side note, if somebody receives a dispute form that looks generic, we could have an upload for all to use?

There is a thread going on another site which is in much the similar vein to this one:

And I am sure there are a lot of people about who have NO idea as yet, because they don't use the internet and are still waiting for their statements....Eccentric hedonistic genealogist, now *resting* after far too long working in Insurance Claims, the Building trade, running a B&B, and Adult Ed. :A0 -
