Yes, can agree with that as I bought one yesterday after reading the messages here and doing some research
. It has 3 USB ports, like the Asus, but the Acer also has 2 card readers (one on each side) so you can leave an SD card in the left-hand side slot to increase your memory size. I decided to go for this one as the keyboard seems better for me than the Asus EEE PC, I can always buy a spare battery later if I find the battery life is too short. I reserved it online and picked it up at my local Currys store (£199) but I went through the Topcashback site so will get 5% cashback. The man in Currys said I'd picked the right colour (I got blue) as he thought the white one was "horrible" There seems to be quite a good user forum here: http://www.aspireoneuser.com/
I agree. I have one too. They are really good:j0 -
My 14 year old daughter is looking for a netbook to take on holiday. She would ideally like one that has a webcam.
Are the refub ones on the dell site any good for 124 excluding vat?

Oh, it doesn't have an internal DVD player, so you need either need to buy an external one or 'RIP' dvd's to memory stick and transfer them over to the netbook (Google it, please don't post on here about ripping DVD's)Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -

Actually, the limitation is of the banks own making. They do sometimes employ lazy web site builders who create a site on the cheap (but charge a lot) using Microsoft software that has it's own 'standards' rather than using properly agreed (worldwide) W3C standards. It would be like somebody not bothering to abide by the electrical supply standards of this country and only produce goods that worked with that company's own electrical network.
As for Windows being preferred by all the banks... this is actually very worrying when you think about just how insecure Microsoft operating systems are when compared to others such as Linux, Mac OS and the various BSD operating systems.Kevan - a disabled old so and so who, despite being in pain 24/7 still manages to smile as much as possible0 -

Cheapest Netbooks (Mini Laptops)
If you are planning to connect one of these (or any laptop/portable) to your big screen TV, check the output ports first. HDMI to HDMI ie digital picture and sound combined in one, is best and easiest. All digital TVs have HDMI but very few computers.
Some have VGA (analogue picture) only, which will connect to the PC socket on the TV but the resolution (screen size and shape) may be odd shaped and difficult/impossible to adjust. Also you will need a lead from the headphones out on the PC to the sound inputs on the telly.
Some have DVI (digital picture) outputs but no TV does, that I know of. You can connect DVI to HDMI with a suitable lead and get a great picture and easily adjust the resolution, but the TV will expect to receive sound this way and may not play sound via the sound inputs.0 -
Comet have the Acer AS1410T for £320. Use code AW10 for £10 off or add something to go over £350 and use AW20 for £20 off. Use a cashback site for 3% off as well. So under £300 in all. This is Win7 3GB 160G HD, 11.6in 1368x768. HDMI output too. Plenty of positive reviews for this machine on the net. You also get a free wireless mouse from comet too.
Note it is bigger than a standard netbook (it is an ultra portable laptop). Typical netbook, 10in is 260x190x30mm. This is 285x204x30 but then you have 33/28% more pixels in width and depth than netbook 1024x600. Weight is about the same. Processor mark is 488, N270 is 305, Z520 is 250. Graphics is also faster than typical netbook.
I toyed with a normal netbook but choose this as being a more useful solution. Most of the reviews do not think the slighter larger size is a problem but rather makes it usable for work.0 -

No it's not a problem at all! 10" netbooks are simply cheap built with low-cost low-res screens. 11.6" or 12" is definitely better. The standard 1024x600 netbook resolution causes problems on a number of websites, not enough vertical pixels. 1366x768 or 1280x800 should be the minimum to consider.
Obviously 10" netbooks have an advantage - they are cheaper! But otherwise they are simply inferior.0 -

The Samsung N110 went down to £199.97 this morning in Currys/PCW - it's the version with the 9hr battery. It's an old range model, so stock might be few and far between.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
