  • my BACS from the 7th turned up in it's destination account in the last hour :j

Martin's "are your savings safe" thingy said moneys would be repatriated to the KE/ING account... did that actually happen to anyone?

I'm still waiting for mine from 7th :( Isn't it horrible not being able to see that amount which is floating around out there!
  • My remaining £11k arrived late yesterday pm by CHAPS, so all transfers are now complete. Unfortunately I still have a further £5k with ING/KE on fixed term deposit till next July that I can't touch till then. Who knows if ING will still be around then?... Still I'm looking on the bright side: I very nearly opened a KE Offshore account instead of a UK one!
    BACS out £9.5k 06/10, received 10/10
    BACS out £10k 07/10, received 17/10
    BACS out £1.6k 07/10, received 17/10
... but still have £5k in KE fixed term deposit - and daren't transfer it !!!
  • My BACS from the 7th also arrived yesterday.

    Ditto the above.

Now just to close my KE savings and fixed term account. (Passport scheme? Never again.)

They aren't answering secure messages I sent over a week ago, so I take it this will require a lengthy phone call?

I sent a test BACS transfer for £1 on the 14th but it still hasn't arrived in my account as of yet. Are they manually processing the transactions or something?

Will give them the benefit of the doubt for a bit (!) but if nothing materialises within the next few days, should I start to get worried?

As I understand it you have to phone to close an account, however if you have a term account your instant access one can have zero credit. Also I understand that you can withdraw a term account subject to loss of interest, 1% I understand. My wife and I withdrew most of our money from each of our instant access accounts, we applied last Sunday with the action day being Monday. The balance remained the same until Thursday when the money was subtracted from our accounts, it then appeared in our respective bank accounts on Friday as promised.:T

I really know deep down I should be closing my KE term account (6 months to run) which has £20K - a very substantial sum for me, and about what I had in Icesave... Obviously the thoughts of being locked out of my cash/losing interest for who knows how long should the same happen with KE and its dreaded !!!!port scheme makes me very worried and it would be a situation I couldn't afford to be in - for my finances and sanity.

But the thing I'm wondering is, should the worse happen then would compensation really take any longer than if ING were fully in the UK scheme? Or would the government step in again and the FSCS pay the full ammount up to £50K? (Allegedly anyway - until I get that Icesave money then the governement's word is just that - words - nothing more).

Everything is so complicated right now and such a gamble. If someone had told me years ago how having savings was such a cause of worry and stress, I'd never have believed them... Then again, I wonder now if I really should have been so careful with my money, scrimping and scraping for so long. I'm seriously wondering if I'm the fool.
  • something isn't working properly at all tonight.

I logged in to my KE account ok, to transfer a bit of money (by BACS) that I need to pay for something this week. However, although I can fill in the details and choose the day (tomorrow) for the transfer when I press the "Make Payment" button it just returns to the same page and doesn't action the transfer request

I've tried it time and again, tried changing the day of transfer or the amount, but it makes no difference. Just returns to the same page every time and won't accept the transfer instructions. Has anybody else had this trouble?
