Is anyone actually able to log in to their KE accounts at the moment? I don't want to withdraw anything but I would like to print off a page showing the current balance - only trouble is it keeps telling me that my login/password is incorrect - I'm certain it isn't.

Is anyone able to get through?
    Yes, no problems.

However, to be on the safe side I phoned ING Direct to ascertain what's going on. Apparently, ING Direct have come to an agreement with the Treasury to take over the £2½ billion savings of the 160,000 KE UK savers. Savers can still access their accounts normally and withdraw or pay in as before.

I shouldn't think they'll be many paying in at the moment but a test withdawal of £100 or so wouldn't hurt.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

  • I suggest to anyone like me who transferred some money out of KE by BACS over the weekend logs in to the transactions page, expands the transaction using the little + and prints off the page or takes a screengrab. The reference should be the account number you transferred the money to. Atleast that should help you prove that the money has gone missing if it doesn't reach it's destination account.

How do I find the transactions page? All I can see is a Statement page. That does not show pending transactions, and I cannot see a + to click.
  • When you login the menu on the left should be something like:
    • Accounts
    • Transactions
    • User settings
    • Buy term deposit
    • Transfer
    • Pay in details
    • Logout
    Do you see something different?
  • By the way, the money I transferred out by BACS didn't reach my current account yet and I made the transfer on Sunday so I would expect it to have arrived today...

I have two BACS withdrawals that have gone missing from Kaupthing Edge. The first left KE on Monday (having been set up last week) and the latter on Tuesday (again before the cut off for same day processing). Neither have arrived at my Nationwide account, but the withdrawls appear on my KE statement for those days, and now the KE balance is showing as zero.

  • Yeah they usually take 3 days, so you would expect the one from Monday to be in your bank now. But I'm going to wait until after the weekend before I start chasing it as it might just be a delay because of all the crazy stuff going on.
  • I "withdrew" my savings from Kaupthing on Monday morning. It is now Thursday and the money has not got to my nominated account and is showing no sign of getting there. It hasn't been returned to Kaupthing. I have no idea where it is. This is really worrying as I now have no record of the transactions (that option is not working on Kaupthing). The money showed as transaction complete but they have obviously recalled it. So even if you thought you had safely got your money out, it looks like it won't get to your nominated account. Monday should have meant that the money got there by open of buisiness on Weds (ie before they declared insolvency) but they still pulled it before that. At least that's what it looks like has happened as I can't get through the Kaupthing. Website is still open though, but with reduced facilities.

N.B I have just checked and I can now get on to the Kaupthing transaction section and everything appears normal, even if the money is still in limbo somewhere. Wonder when we will get it? Has anyone got through to Kaup yet to find out?

    Yes.

    Statement
    Withdrawal

    Amend memorable Word
    Amend password
    Pay in details

    Log out

When you click 'Transactions', what is the http address triggered. Perhaps those of us without the transactions option can manually navigate to them, assuming we all have the same back-end but different front-ends.
  • Weird eh?!

The address to the transactions page is
    https://www.kaupthingedge.com/secure/default.aspx?page=Transactions&accountid=0

    Good luck
