Sorry if this has been mentioned elswehere but does anyone know how long it takes for compensation from fscs? We are amongst those who transfered via BACS before the shutdown on tues morning but it was placed back in our account yesterday (same icesave one not linked uk one).

Meadows, it will not let me reset the password, it just keeps saying 'the information you have supplied is incorrect'.
It does not recognise my ID number, so I gess my money is STILL in limbo.
I closed my account on Monday night, stupidly thinking I'd get the money.
The worst thing about this is that my Mum gave me this money to look after for her, (£7000) as she is hopeless.
    Who's hopeless now?

Firstly did you close tha account, if you did then you have nothing to view so it will not let you in as there is no account for now.

If you did not the the password will reset by the following:

Enter the User Id (don't fill in password) & then click reset, it will give you a 5 letter code and almost straight away email you with a second 5 letter code.
Back on the login page enter your user ID and then the 10 letter code, this puts you into your login details where you choose a new password and you are th back into your account.

We both had to do this last night, and can once again view our accounts.

    Hope you get some joy:o

    Don't beat yourself up.
My Mum's first words were "what was your money doing there?"
Ironically my mum works for Kent County Council - they have lost £50 million.

There are plenty of sensible folk who have had theor fingers burned in this one.

I've read in a few places that it will take 4 months! But as so many people are involved, hopefully the FSCS will try to speed things up.

    I have't a clue soon I hope.

I think the average is 3 - 4 months from what i've read, but I have seen 6 months mentioned and also 18 months.
Earlier today some one on another Icesave thread said they had heard Gordon Brown said it will be as quickly as possible, possibly 5 - 6 weeks.

I think it's just sit and wait, as long as we all get all

Just been on to Icesave with reference the return of funds to a closed account.

The money is there, but the accounts are showing a code for a closed account, that is why we can't access the accounts.
The IT guys are working to remove the codes on the accounts so they can be reinstated as quickly as possible, but due to the vast amount of people that withdrew funds and closed accounts this will take some time.

  • Thanks Meadows.
I'll feel a bit better once I can see the money again. Even if 'they' still have it!
Has anyone who previously closed an account had their funds reinstated yet?

It would be nice to know that my Icesave ISA is still intact as an ISA - even though I theoretically withdrew it last Monday evening - but if it does make its way to my cheque account that would be a satisfactory conclusion as well. Not sure which outcome I prefer.

I was told today that any transfers done Monday morning would have probably gone through, but anything done Monday evening onwards wouldn't.

Mine didn't go through and one has bounce back (chaps), waiting for the accounts to be reinstated on the other two (bacs), but have been told the funds are there! ;)
