I agree that ING having a cash injection shouldn't make much difference, after all, loads of other big name banks have had cash injections. We've moved on from the situation of governments dithering about bank cash injections causing Northern-Rock-style runs.

However, I'm beginning to suspect that that's not the only problem .....
The newsapapers today are reported ING having made made bigger losses than expected. That could spell trouble when combined with the need for State-funded cash injections. Markets aren't rational these days and generally over-react. The radio stations are watching this. Besides, if it's the case that K-E was a dodgy bank partly because of its allegedly high deposit rates, ING has inherited the lot (fixed rate bonds with high rates etc) and is still advertising the same high rates for new customers.

Thought some jumpy people who actually are happy might make at least one of you smirk a bit of joy or something that isn't anger...

A CHAPs transfer, as far as I was aware, is a same day transfer. And the European transfers take a maximum of two days... At least that was the case when I used to process them way back in 2006/2007 for Allied Irish Bank.

I'm getting the feeling I need to read a few more pages than the last ten...:rotfl:
 Debt Free since July 2011 and it feels good!

Now it's all about finding a deposit for a house!

How do you amass £70k in a year?!

I got an email from them (unsolicited):
Dear Customer

Over the past week ING Direct has been working with the Administrators of Kaupthing Edge to clear a backlog of payment instructions that were not able to be completed when Kaupthing Edge encountered difficulties.
While we have now processed over 95% of these payments, I am sorry to inform you that we are still working on a number of manual payment instructions, including the withdrawal request that you have made.
I do understand that the continuing delay is frustrating and I wanted to reassure you that my team is working with the Administrators to resolve the outstanding payment issues.
I appreciate your continued patience and I will contact you again shortly to confirm when the payments will be made.
Yours sincerely

Thanks to webferret and bonnybilbo for email research work. Have just made use of it.

• Along with others I got a response to my email on Saturday from Alastair Hemmings. It included this

"Payments may have been credited to your destination bank account at differing times yesterday. Depending on your destination bank, some payments may not be processed by your bank until Monday, when the funds will show in your account."

I just rang the help desk at my linked account (A+L) to ask: "If a CHAPS transfer arrived on Friday after close of business would you have a record of it." Was told that it goes to an "Admin" account first, but if it had arrived on Friday it would show on my account overnight/Saturday am. Also there's nothing pending right now.

So not one of the "majority of all payments" then. To be charitable I suppose it could have slipped the ING CHAPS run on Friday and will go in today.

But I'm going to respond to Mr Hemmings's email appropriately.

Afterthought: CHAPS Oct 8th am
CHAPS out 8 Oct KE - received 20 Oct A+L
Still here for moral support.

quick question if i was going to do a chaps transfer today, whats the average time to hit my nominated account?, i dread to read the posts its 251 pages long
I dont think anyone will be able to answer that question given the current transfer times.

I made a withdrawal of some of the money using BACS this morning so lets see if it turns up on Wednesday as it should.
• I received a bacs (via chaps) paymemt on Friday but a larger chaps payment from the 8th has still not appeared.

Still think my forum name is far fetched?
