Kaupthing Edge CHAPS Transfer
Comments
-
Just to put my 2p in - my money was CHAPS'd into my account today - the original request was around 7pm on 7th October. I only put it through as a BACS transfer, but they've paid for the CHAPS, so great service in difficult times, in my opinion.0

Subject: Kaupthing Edge Payment Update
Dear Customer
You may be aware that a small number of customers have experienced some issues in the processing of payments on their accounts. We are pleased to inform you that we have been working hard to restore normal service for Kaupthing Edge customers and to resolve the issues around these delayed payments.
In addition to the payments already made we are now able to confirm that all payments will arrive in their destination bank account by close of business Friday 17 October... "

There is nothing yet in my linked Lloyds TSB account, from a transaction initiated on 8 October for action on 9 October, using CHAPS. Your comment by return, please.

No reply (and nothing, still, in my linked bank account). This is how ING Direct welcomes a 'new customer'?0 -

Hopeless
I think what's required is for one of us on here, to be able to speak with someone at ING who can look at a transaction, and determine what happened to it. I believe that our transactions were put in a queue of some sort, got put to one side, and have never been acted upon. Last night you said you will be talking to ING on Monday. Once you have dealt with your case, please would you be so kind as to give to ING our transaction numbers for them to look at as well? We'd be ever so grateful if you agreed to do so, and we would provide you with the ransaction numbers and date.....Illegitimi non carborundum

So far 36 people have sent me information - 33 included transfer amounts and at the moment it stands at £ 872396 not received having been initiated by CHAPS. I have only included information sent direct to me by PM or email lovelife42@hotmail.co.uk as I can't match up all the user names with real email names and don't want to double count. Please send me the details if you are in this boat - the more information we gather together the better our chances of a sensible responseCHAPS 8th Oct Rec'd 20th Lloyds TSB0

That was one of my points earlier this morning. They know they have lost us as customers so why do more than the bare minimum - hence I think we will have a long and hard battle to get the CHAPS fees / lost interest back.
In reality I wouds almost suggest that ING are doing as little as possible to comply with whatever minimal T&Cs the FSA imposed when they were "offered" our accounts.

So Martin, if you or one of your collegues are reading this thread, are you going to follow up on your promise posted last Tuesday? - quote
"For those people who havent had their cash sorted by the beginning of next week, I (or MSE Dan) will happily speak to ING about this issue in more details and see if there's any route we can set up to try and help sort things out more quickly.
Kind regards
Martin"
maybe you can get some sense out of ING

At the risk of being shot down, I think Martin has gone very quiet! Yet he is in more of a position to make enquiries than all these kind people on here who are trying to get answers on our behalf. In no way do I blame him for recommending Kaupthing, in fact it's thanks to him I knew to spread my savings and found out which banks were 'connected', and I am still a fan of the site. BUT I do hope he might give us some extra support and NOT close the thread as he suggested a couple of days ago!0 -
I'll worry about a £20 fee and the interst when I've got my capital back - well, when I've given it to my builder. I agree with the principle but it's not my priority right now. SorryCHAPS 8th Oct Rec'd 20th Lloyds TSB0

I agree with you - the first priority is to get our money back.
I was just making a point that ING have handled this very badly, so I would not expect things to get any better once they have sorted out the accounts. They are going to want to walk away - after all we will not be current or even potential customers.

My BACS payment from KE arrived this morning. Took a long while!!!
Now, to get my Icesave money!0 -
OK folks just thinking about this logically...
those in the know - is the CHAPS system fully automated from the receving banks end.
The reason I ask this is maybe, just maybe this is not all ING's fault.
As we know the BACS system is pretty well fully automated, so maybe ING decided to do these first so that the "majority" of customers woould get their money as quickly as possible, but then even if ING had laid on an army of people to initiated the CHAPS transfers, if these need to be manually processed in any way by the receiving banks, then this also replys of the receiving banks having more people than normal to process the incoming CHAPS transaction, and would every bank and building society have done that - I think not.
Just a thought - I maybe completely wrong but just a thought
