  • What really annoys me about these clowns is that, whilst I do believe that we will get our money back, they are utterly hopeless when it comes to communications/information/assurances about peoples' own money. I really do believe also that it's simply breathtaking incompetence in management, PR & IT rather than malice.

Still, take for example, two direct, current, quotes from the web site:

    1. "All your savings are safe and are now with ING Direct"

    and ....

    2. "we are now able to confirm that all payments will arrive in their destination bank account by close of business Friday 17 October"

Now, we all know that #2 was a big fat lie or misrepresentation or fop to keep the hapless KE despositors quiet or whatever you want to call it. So, the logical extension you can make is that #1 might not be true either. Along with anything else they might tell any of their customers from time to time.

You really would have thought that they would have taken the October 17th statement off by now, but they seem happy to continue with flat out wrong and misleading information.

Also, I don't know if anyone else has experienced this but in 5 or 6 calls to ING and KE over the last week, not once have I been asked for anything other than my name. Not once would they take my account number and check what was happening with my specific account.

That time is now passed. If there's no money Monday, I'm going to keep someone from ING on the phone ALL DAY if needs be until they specifically look at my account. It's the only way.

I just don't understand why it seems to be all BACS payments that have got through for payment. Why no CHAPS? Mine was CHAPS requested 6.10 in the evening. The money left my account 10am on the 7th.

    Any theories?

I'd like to say that I'm calm and confident that all will be fine on Monday but I feel so untrusting of the whole system now, I don't trust anything I'm being told.

As I have said before, there are BACS payments that have failed too. Mine was set up on 11 October but I have received no funds, despite numerous assurances from Ing staff. My linked bank (HSBC) say they can't see any transfers coming through Monday 20th, so I'm not optimistic. I tried to take things up with a senior officer at Ing last night but I couldn't get through to talk to anyone. I have now e-mailed the BBC with details. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/talking_point/your_news/7593687.stm#postform
  • I wonder how many of these idiots came home Friday evening on a promise of 35k of their own money only to find it wasn't there? None, I supect

What I can't understand is that ING are supposedly giving the instructions as to how this mess is being sorted out, yet they apparently have no access to our information. As I wasn't sure whether we're supposed to be contacting KE or ING, yesterday KE said account queries should be referred to them, but they couldn't explain what the timescale was for anything. When I suggested that the further up the staff ladder you go, presumabley at some level someone would know something, I was told that if I even contacted the CEO of KE/ING even they wouldn't know what's going on. Not sure Johan De Wit would be very happy that his staff are saying he hasn't got a clue (though it appears to be true!).
  • Not to worry. It's only a bank after all. With our money.

    So still no money

For me only £13.5k transfered out by CHAPS on 8th Oct at 13.30 into Nationwide

Spoke to ING last night and all I got was sorry its taking longer than we thought - which is possible in all reality.

However, as mentioned here a few times, how difficult would it have been for one person at ING to update the website with real facts rather than vague promises - unless of course they do not want us to know the facts. In business its nearly always the case than when you are told all is well in a vague and non-commital manner something is usually going wrong.

So my take on this is this.

Those of us who opted to pay for a "higher level of service" transfer have been left to last.

There are promises of repayed CHAPS fees and lost interest - lets wait and see....

I guess we will have to jump through hoops to gret the interest and CHAPS fees back, after all it will not be automated, they have struggled to get the first bit right. They will "bank" (pun intended) on a number of people not bothering, not having the correct information etc etc

    BTW two questions

Is the CHAPS fee just an admin charged by the bank to cover their manual input or is it a fee paid to APACS?

Also has anyone who did not transfer their KE money actaully had an ING Direct account created yet or are they still the old KE accounts?

So we have to wait until Monday now.

As mentioned before here, by Wednesday if nothing has moved we need to get together and start considering legal action or at the very least some very public action against ING

just my 2p for a Saturday morning

So Martin, if you or one of your collegues are reading this thread, are you going to follow up on your promise posted last Tuesday? - quote

"For those people who havent had their cash sorted by the beginning of next week, I (or MSE Dan) will happily speak to ING about this issue in more details and see if there's any route we can set up to try and help sort things out more quickly.

    Kind regards

    Martin"

maybe you can get some sense out of ING

I think the best news that we have is that no CHAPS have gone through... OK a couple of people have reported that they had, but I reckon they may have been confued as transfers initiated as BACS, showed as CHAPS in the target account.
It would be well worse if loads of CHAPS had gone through and we were the straglers.... they will have to listen to all of us together:grouphug:

    That’s my theory.

We’re not just talking about a washing machine or three-piece suite not turning up.

THIS IS ABOUT OUR LIFE’S SAVINGS.
  • Cheap Hoaxers Appropriate Peoples Savings. Thats what ING are. Roll on Monday, the gloves are OFF. Payment arranged am on 7/10 still AWOL...

Well, I also have a backup plan - if I've not seen the money or had a satisfactory answer by Wednesday, I'll let ING Direct know that I plan to approach Her Majesty's County Courts, and will actually do so if need be.

    http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/infoabout/claims/index.htm

I'll be speaking to a solicitor friend about whether this will be a straightforward County Court claim. If it will, the mere threat is usually enough to get a bank to cough up without actually having to issue a summons.

But, seriously, I really don't think that'll be necessary. I used to work in the service industry, and sometimes delays do occur and deadlines slip despite best intentions. I've more than once promised a report to a customer which should have been doable within the deadline, but where everything just took that wee bit longer leading to the deadline being missed.

I suspect ING Direct thought they'd work on the BACS transactions first, and do the CHAPS transactions later "because those'll go through instantly", but found that everything took just that little bit longer, so they ultimately couldn't get through to the CHAPS transactions in time. Given the sort of volumes they're working with (it's likely to be tens of thousands, remember), even if each took three seconds longer than they'd expected, they'd rapidly fall far behind.

Now I'd best stop chelping and get to bed. Ah'll sithee.

We might need to do something like this to get someone at ING to look into what's happened to our teansfers.......
