Kaupthing Edge CHAPS Transfer

I've just emailed the BBC News room! I'm sooo angry with ING.:mad::mad:

Remember those of us who got BACS payments this pm actually were sent the money via CHAPS. Something has gone wrong in the processing of the original CHAPS ones somewhere. Maybe they forgot the +44 country code at the beginning or something simple and a different team sent the bACS payments out as CHAPS and remembered to put it in. (Not saying they use +44 - but that kind of thing - a simple technical/ admin issue!)I've been thinking about this a little further. It seems that chaps requested paymnets seem to have been unpaid and that maybe ING are unaware that these payments exist.
I've also been told by HSBC that a chaps payment has to be released by a person, ie it passes across someones screen to be authorised to leave the source bank.
So, Given the confusion that must have existed at kapu edge on the 7th/8th, could it be that whoever was releasing those payments decided to or was told to send them somewhere else. I'll also be talking to them about specific transactions next week!!!!0 -

It is quite likely something like this.
Please pursue this line, and perhaps if others can supply you with transaction ids, you could include them too....Illegitimi non carborundum

The fact that ING choose to delay payments and then send them at higher cost (chaps more expensive than Bacs even at wholesale prices) is making me evn more suspicious.
I agree something has seriously gone wrong with original chaps and I don't think it's going to be solved by monday.CHAPS 8th received 20th into HSBC A/CBACS on the 17th and 20th received 22nd into HSBC A/CCHAPS fee refunded 29/10I can survive any crisis - I have kids!!0 -
Yes I have logged on to the KW website this evening (8pm) and my £1 balance is still there and my £34,600 isn'tCan someone check they can still login to their account and view the account details. When I tried to view the details it took me to the ING site. Probably just me so no need to panic.0 -
however, if you PM me if you haven't received a CHAPS that you paid for and give me the details vis-a-vis dated requested (and ballpark amount if you're willing) plus linked bank I'll set up a database ready for Monday - if it proves necessary. I still think the money will arrive but I'd rather be prepared.
We requested ours just after 2pm on Tuesday 7th in the sum of £35k to pay our builder - who is not happy; our linked account is Lloyds

I have had info from some contributors here but not everyone, by a long chalk. It's hard to respond on PM as I can only reply every 4 mins! Please, PM me or email to lovelife42@hotmail.co.uk - I still think our money will arrive but I know that if it doesn't having all the info in a coherent form will give alot more power to out elbow.CHAPS 8th Oct Rec'd 20th Lloyds TSB0 -
Hometune, how are we to pursue your line of inquiry?

Me too! But how sad that we as hard-working, saving individuals should have to contact the national Broadcasting Company to try to get some justice. There should be an official body for us! MP's are not interested, the Police cannot help of course, the 'official' financial bodies are too busy, and the press are only interested in selling papers or selling advertising. The frustration is overwhelming at the moment - I had expected to see my hard-earned 35K in my bank account today... some bloody Dutchman had promised it. I hope he'll stick his finger in something more painful than a dyke.
I'd hope that ING would go bust, but not until every penny of our forum's members is 'safe'.
I was always brought up to believe that you 'do what you say, and say what you do'.... in other words be honest. If ING could not honestly say that transfers would arrive, they should have said so. Not fobbed us off with platitudes. ... I wonder what their other savers would think if they learned of this debacle. But of course, they won't be viewing 'our' forum will they?
I wish I hadn't had that bottle of red which I'd bought for a celebration tonight...
Martin Lewis - if you are reading this and the hundreds of others... can you please help sort out this terrible problem which you are not responsible for... but do have a hand in.0 -
