Kaupthing Edge CHAPS Transfer

Well, in that case I'm lucky I didn't try to close the account when I withdrew my money on Monday 6th October - I just withdrew the full amount showing in savings, not caring about the extra few quid in daily accrued interest in my haste to get out before something happened. It took until just now this evening for the money to arrive in my home current account, so Kaupthing Edge/ING owe my a few days more interest still. They have said they'll address this issue once all the payments are made.
To be fair to ING, they did (just about) keep their deadline; they must have had a tremendous backlog. But I wasn't impressed when I phone ING's helpline and the rep said she wasn't interested in the details of my account, as it 'didn't tell them anything'. My own bank (First Direct) is infintely superior to ING in questions of customer service. But alas, its online saver interest rate is pretty low.0 -

I guess gobbledyggook is the international language for bankers.
No - I meant the bit about
Good at getting things done.
Just noticed if you go to...

WE HAVEN'T GOT OUR MONEY - and that his assurances were not worth the paper they were written on!!!!0 -
however, if you PM me if you haven't received a CHAPS that you paid for and give me the details vis-a-vis dated requested (and ballpark amount if you're willing) plus linked bank I'll set up a database ready for Monday - if it proves necessary. I still think the money will arrive but I'd rather be prepared.
We requested ours just after 2pm on Tuesday 7th in the sum of £35k to pay our builder - who is not happy; our linked account is LloydsCHAPS 8th Oct Rec'd 20th Lloyds TSB0 -
Have been looking at this thread along with one on another website my CHAPS transfer made at 12.30pm. on 7th. still not received. It seems to me that quite a lot of people who made BACS transfers have got their cash but few if any have had anything from CHAPS. Any ideas why ? Another spoilt weekend anyway !!!
Same here. CHAPS actioned on the 7th left (supposedly) on the 8th and nothing received. Everyone seems to be receiving BACS payments but no CHAPS (thought it was the premium service!)No more offshore banking for me :rolleyes:0 -
Don't the IT systems of the two banks work the same?
As far as I know, Ing Direct itself doesn't have a CHAPS facility. I was told by Ing that they are paying a few K-E staff to continue operating the K-E system which does have a CHAPS facility.
I arranged a BACS outpayment from K-E on 10 th October. Like many others here, the money hasn't arrived, despite a 100% promise given to me on Wednesday by someone at Ing that it would arrive by close of business 17th. I have phoned Ing 3 times today chasing this. When I last phoned around 16.30 today, they said that K-E staff had been authorised to use CHAPS to process any outstanding BACS. But it has made no difference unless it somehow shows up by Monday, which I doubt.0 -
Ok
I'm starting to get rather PI&&SED off now.
This is gone beyond a joke and a reasonable amount of time has passed for this to be sorted.
This is now verging on theft!
WHY have ING not processed ANY of the CHAPS payments. Maybe they just don't have them in their system and are unaware of them...!
...boy are they in for a shock when they see how much needs to be refunded..!
The irony is of course that everyone who requested the free service of a BACS transfer gets their dosh, and us mugs who PAID for a CHAPS service get !!!!!! all apart from another long weekend of worry.
THANKS ALOT ING!0 -

You are kidding right? I'm done with being fair to ING. They said that all tranfers would be IN the destination accounts by close of business on Oct 17th and they said that 4 days ago. They could have started transferring money from Tuesday but f**k all happened until yesterday/today and 99.99% of that seems to be BACS. And they are still bleating about clearing the backlog. It's just lame. If the person who had confirmed that the 17th was OK to go on the web site was working for me, they would be fired as of now. We'll get our Icesave money from the FSCS first if it carries on like this.
I am truly delighted for people that have got their money but slightly annoyed that those that opted for CHAPS at the time in order to make a quick transaction, largely seem to be those who have had nothing.
As I said earlier, the only thing missing from the ING web site is the word "half" in between "Johan de" and "Wit".:mad:0
