I had transferred some funds from Icesave into my account with Kaupthing Edge and it was my money from Kaupthing Edge which was paid into my account today. I did not do a Chaps transfer. Hope this makes things clearer, sorry for the confusion.

However, basically none of the payments that were received today started off as CHAPS. The point here is that the CHAPS requests have not arrived - regardless of the fact that Bacs requests have arrived as CHAPS.

I received mine as BACS and originally requested it by BACS on the 7th. Dont worry - everyone will get sorted soon

Just spoke to ING - no manager available -but information they have is that all payments have been processed, but may not show in accounts until Monday depending on how your destination bank operates, tried to argue that if processed by CHAPS they had to show today, why are they lying - young lad just got stumbled over his prepared statement - not his fault I suppose. Any updates will be put on website he said.

at 6.40 i phoned ING again. This time told that the 'cut-off' was 5 p.m. Before, they'd told me 6 p.m.! Have been given this number to ring - specifically for people with the Kaupthing Edge to ING problem - 0845 848 0282. He said that on this number they will have access to my account with Kaupthing Edge and can give more details. He said they were aware that 'a few people' had not yet got their transfers through! A few??!! Must be thousands? Thanks to all on here for the support, help and advice. Weekend would be more miserable without this forum....

I have just got through to ING and they have informed me that they are processing payments up until midnight. I queried the 5/6 pm cut off and she said they were definitely being done until midnight but I would not receive anything until Monday. I explained I needed the money urgently so she took my account numbers and emailed someone (processing team??) to make sure it is done to arrive on Monday. She also took my mobile number so they could ring and confirm it had been done on Monday. I don't know whether they will ring or not but I'm now at least feeling a little more positive. Really am going to the pub now...:D

No sign of mine yet. And I'd imagine that come close of business on Monday it won't be there either. . .
    Where now?

I spoke with KE today in the morning (they replied at first ring, no queue!) and I asked why my payment had not been processed.

He replied that I would get all payments by tonight, close of business. I just checked my link account and found that all the savings have been transferred by BACS but still no trace of the money that was in the bonds.

I shall keep checking but now feel much less frightened, having recouped at least half of our money (it included my husband's savings as well).

    Keep hoping!

Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Looking back through the posts it looks like any chaps requested transfers after close of business on tuesday have not been received. Anyone had a chaps request after this credited to their account?

If this is correct then I am beginning to worry that a computer file may have been corrupted due to the original problems with the failure of the parent bank or some other reason. Seems strange that bacs requests have been processed ok albeit with a delay.
    CHAPS 8th received 20th into HSBC A/C
BACS on the 17th and 20th received 22nd into HSBC A/C
    CHAPS fee refunded 29/10
I can survive any crisis - I have kids!!

i think they did two BACS runs on different days. Some will be received today and some on monday. The others which were received by chaps later today and were originally requested by bacs were the ones which needed looking at because they were duplicates. Hope this helps. dont worry you will get your dosh theres no escape for them with all the publicity!

I feel exactly the same. However, can you think of a sensible explanation as to the non-appearance of CHAPS requests?

I still believe I’ll get my money back. If all else fails I’ll go to the FSCS, who were guaranteeing it when I transferred to KE.

We can only speculate and look for scapegoats. There is clearly a different procedure for CHAPS. The 2 that went through earlier could have just been test runs on the system, they may have actually clicked on BACS, thinking it was CHAPS, then it arrived as CHAPS, so that’s the way they thought it transferred.

If we had seen a trickle of CHAPS it would have given us hope but zilch doesn’t give us anything. It’s hard to advise others to stop worrying, when I am worried myself. I am very lucky I’m not in the middle of a house sale or need to pay any builders. I hope the people waiting to be paid will understand this extraordinary situation.

I have worked in various IT fields and have seen major hold ups caused by minute problems. A spotty programmer somewhere may have forgotten to put a comma in a line of code and is spending day and night trying to find it, who knows?
