Kaupthing Edge CHAPS Transfer

Hi - I guess the point of this list is that people know they're not alone ( I thought I might have been in a minority in this situation and had no idea it was happening to everyone until I read the forum). There is comfort in knowing others are dealing with the same and we can all share frustrations and also good news if we find something out. The list could be helpful if the worst comes to the worst and we need publicity, help, or whatever, I don't know. Let's just hope that it all sorts itself out soon and we all know more. Being in the dark is the worst part.0

It is certainly hard to access useful info at the moment on MSE.
I agree .... why add yourself to a list, are you going to take it to the FSCS and tell them that some people are awaiting funds ... I think they already know that!!0 -

Like you say, it is certainly hard to access useful information and to know who all are affected is not going to be easy.
Maybe there isn't any benefit in the list but the comfort of they are not alone and there are others out there with the same problem helps to compose ourself and maybe useful to work and communicate together to get our money back. How does it hurt having a list? If we all get our money back we all are going to continue on and this list will disappear. If there are any problems, we know we have to get together and do something about it. It doesn't hurt to have a list. That's my view.0 -

I'm confident our money is safe.0 -
The worse case is the money got to a Kaupthing holding account that is not owned by ING or covered by the FSCS.
However, I can't see the UK government allowing ordinary savers who thought they were covered by the FSCS to lose out. Most of us were moving money from one FSCS account to another. If they can find the money to bail out ALL Icesave accounts as well as the greedy banks that got us into this mess then the likes of you and me will have to be covered.
Some kind of news on what is going on from ING would reduce the stress levels somewhat !0 -

Our money is safe, If the money has gone from your account at KE but has not appeared in the destination bank it will be in a holding account, waiting and will be traceable. These funds are still covered by the FSCS, I was told, 100%
Also the lady said ING took over the accounts ----TOTAL. Meaning they will have full records of where your money has gone.
I BACS earlier this week, no sign - yet.
Thanks eyeshigher, best post of the entire thread!0 -
Just got off the phone from KE.
All withdrawals are being processed but the systems has completely melted due to the amount of traffic going through the system so it will go to your destination account but it will take slightly longer.
Although they do not know how longer, slightly longer actually is!0 -
I agree FSCS will know there are lots of people in this situation, but not everyone has the time to sit on here and read the posts. Some people will be completely in the dark about all of this until they get home from work tonight and maybe read these posts. I have to say I'm surprised that the Press hasn't got hold of the fact that so many people are in limbo-land. No-one has mentioned those people like us. Once the Press got hold of the fact that people in Icesave had over £50k (yes, obvious really) and people started shouting about it, that's when Govt said they's cover the lot. We still haven't yet got an official line about what happens here. BACS may be different to CHAPS and convered by the FSCS differently - does anyone know?0
