There needs to be an official statement about the BACS / CHAPS transfer issue, I have had several different explanations from HSBC, KE, CHAPS and ING. I have just spoken to a BBC staff member to try to get them to ask questions, and perhaps get some answers/official response!

The money could be with KSF

If the money is with KSF then its ok too.

KSF is a UK Bank, UK authorised and regulated. You can see that message in KE website.

If anyone can add to this list please do so.

    FYI:
    ING freefone number 0800 561 8840
    KE on 08451 313 234

Dont use the 0845 number for Kaupthing Edge.

    Use either 01159836332 or 01159836331
  • the point of the thread and list is support now and later.
    now
it helps knowing the problem is systemic and to collate all info anyone can get.KE, CHAPS and the FSCS have all been asked by people on this list to put something on their website about limbo money. they might do it.
    later
I hope we don't have to, but in the worst case scenario one can mount a group action.
remember this is a CONSUMER site for consumers to help each other !there is about 2 billion in KE accounts or was when taken over.KE will know how much of that is in limbo.
also this will clarify the legal issues for the next bank failure and may be the info will be better!

    CLASS ACTION!!!!!!!!!!!!

What are you talking about. The money is and secure. you aint gonna lose anything except a few nights sleep which is a bit poor.

Perhaps a remedy for this might be buying a Wii and playing Mario Kart at 3am to help you sleep.

I think suggesting a class action law suit is a bit ott.

You can add me to the list of missing CHAPs payments ~ 50k

Request made Tuesday afternoon, KE account shows money out Wednesday 8th - the day ING took over. Receiving bank has no indication of anything coming in.

KE phones engaged all morning, managed to get to call centre wait phone.
    20 minute wiat then ...

    1, "They are very busy"
2, Can't tell me where the money is
3, They can't tell me when the payment will be actioned
4, They can't tell me if they will refund the CHAPs fee
5, A supervisor will call me back sometime but they will not be able to tell me anymore than the call cetre girl did

All this info without asking me any security questions - I know she did not give out any confidential information - but took no effort to find out if my account had any further info on it about the payment

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
I imagine people are PM'ing/emailing Martin, Dan and the other employees at MSE? Do we have a response/acknowledgement from them yet?
  • I have 30k in KE and was a little concerned until I heard the ING announcement. The money sounds safe enough for the time being although I am not so sure about the interest.
I will bite the bullet and not make any attempts to move it for now. I will let things calm down a little first, then reevaluate.
