What does the email say ? - is it specifically to you, saying that you have tried to transfer and are still waiting... or is it generic ?

I am now wondering if I'm maybe not even on the transfer list, but have fallen down a big black hole in the payments to be made file .....no I will not worry about this ....keep calm , deep breaths ...
  • I made a BACS on Tuesday out of KE to current account, think it was acknowledged on Wednesday but not received as yet.

What I didn't know is that the Banks can see 1 day in advance regarding BACS into your account, i.e. I went into HSBC yesterday to enquire and she looked on her system to see the next day's transactions in my account.

If you are going near your local bank today, why not pop in and ask them to check your account for tomorrow?

The HSBC number is 01226 261010 - useful for using up free minutes on the mobile, or using a landline on a free package after 6pm. They are open until 10pm every evening.
Thanks - with my landline package I get all calls free throughout the whole day (not just after 6pm) so I find saynoto0870 saves me a lot!

I was told by HSBC the banks can only see BACS transfers in advance they are unable to view CHAPS transfers in advance!

CHAPS are immediate thats why. BACS will show the day they are coming through. Thats when the bank can see them. They will credit close of business.

Don't worry about the email - it just says exactly the same as the website. Maybe it got blocked as SPAM by some people's computers. My antivirus was blocking MSE weekly emails at one point until I changed it's Spam settings. I guess SCAM emails often purport to be from banks so it could be that you have very cautious software or your ISP does.

See below - I've posted it anyway...
