  • I'm up for positive thinking but before I start - just tell me - what is your theory on the large amounts seeming to not be coming through?? Or am I just being paranoid!!!!!

Any clues where you are going to put your £££ WHEN/IF it comes through????

Short term it's going into one of my UK bank accounts, possibly Natwest. Long term, it's going into property, which despite popular belief, I think is the best bet with all these banks going bust. However I'm not counting my chickens/eggs - whatever the phrase is :A.

I'll put any savings left over into a Birmingham Midshires or another UK 50k covered bank. My theory is that Kaupthing is actually dealing well and keeping cool with the situation, the opposite to Icesave - which I also had substantial cash with - grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :-( - but that's a different story.

I think, and hope early next week Kaupthing will come good. There's nothing to indicate that they won't, so fingers crossed. STAY POSITIVE! LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO WORRY ABOUT MONEY! I KNOW IT'S HARD, BUT DO TRY, PLEASE OTHERWISE I'LL TURN NEGATIVE - HEHE  - STAY POSITIVE AND YOU'LL SEND OUT SIGNALS TO THE UNIVERSE AND IT WILL HOPEFULLY ANSWER YOUR PRAYERS. A THEORY PERHAPS, BUT A GOOD MENTALITY AT THAT. THERE'S ENOUGH ABUNDANCE AND HAPPINESS TO GO ROUND - THE UNIVERSE IS INFINITE - ENDLESS. MY GOD, SORRY I'M NOT A PHILOSOPHER LOL, BUT YOU KNOW..

Blimey aren't we a right bunch, all here pinching the penny and when the sh*t hits the fan (like now!) it comes out that we all have shedloads of money in savings hehehe

I am, like everybody else, sitting tight and crossing fingers (not much else I can do, really, after phoning KE and ING and being fed the party line), waiting for my life savings to appear into my link account and out of this diabolical mess.

What strikes me is the amazing customer service skills of the people on the telephone centre, they are unfailingly polite and unflappable, and at times even sympathetic (Yeh right pull the other one!).I wish that our local supermarket employed this sort of customer service people instead of local disgruntled, gum-chewing teenagers!

On a more practical note, if you have to call them, don't bother with 0845, use the numbers given by saynoto0870, which are:

    0115 9836331 or 0115 9836332

I used one of them yesterday and it works.

    Good luck, all!

    Caterina
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • Is there anyone that cares to join me in taking more of a positive attitude, albeit still concerned and realistic? I think the more positive thinking we can get, the easier it will get hopefully. Cheers

I'm with you on the positive thinking, I transfered a 5 figure sum out of my account on the 7th, it disapeared from my KE account and hasn't shown itself in my nominated account, but I'm not worried, I'd imagine 1000's of people did the same as me, I pity the people at ING who have suddenly had a massive influx to their workload.... and I bet they don't get paid any extra for the hassle they're now receiving!
The money will appear at some point, I may lose 7 days or so interest, but I prefer that to losing everything! I'd be happy if they put the money back into my KE account, I knew all along it was guaranteed by the FSA, but I wanted it in a place where I could get my hands on it if I needed it at short notice, I can't understand all the stress people are putting themselves through, putting all your eggs in one basket isn't a good idea anyway, and as for needing the money to buy a house... the housing market is in such a state at the moment that I'd doubt anyone would lose the house of their dreams over what could be a few days extra..... I may be taking a laid back approach, but the outcome for me will be the same as for the guy who's pulling his hair out and having sleepless nights!!! Worrying yourself sick won't help matters!!!

Try again, I just logged in successfully - just to see if my money had gone back into my KE account as the Barclays button is wearing a bit thin!!

    Good luck

I've had no problems logging into my KE account all week, the only change is the ING logo appearing and the messages keeping us updated on the latest news.

Neither have I but, on checking the site this morning in Firefox, the 'Log-in' link was missing. Checked in Internet Explorer and the link was showing & operational - now workng in Firefox as well.

    EVERYONE BE MORE POSITIVE! :j

I've got 200k + lost in the CHAPs transfer system. But I'm picturing it going in my account next week. Its just money, digits - it will come good. Icesave is a different story - I'm not going to go there :o

Lets all think like the americans do. When there is a situation they regard it as a challenge not a problem and perhaps we should do the same.
