My question is, is this bank safe to use, or will this result like the ICESAVE account???? I am currently living off my savings in KE, so I tranferr monies each money, if this account failed, i would be really stuffed!!

I am thinking of moving my money, any thoughts????

I have read Martins info on ING buying KE, but wanted to ask peoples views???

Any answer will be pure speculation. Only the big guns at ING know what the situation is.

I have a considerable sum that doesn’t exist in KE or my destination account. It’s an uncomfortable feeling but after reading some of the success stories in this thread, I live in hope. If my money doesn’t show, I will be forming my own private army, to retrieve it. Wanna join? :mad:

I did a CHAPS last Tuesday evening (7 Oct 08) which appeared on the KE account on Wednesday 8th and cleared the account, all but a pound. It has not arrived at my nominated account. So, as much as I realize what the situation is, right at this moment, it doesn’t exist.

I would rather see the money back in my KE account, than nowhere at all. I would sit tight for a few days and wait for an official announcement from ING. Print a few copies of your statements. Let’s hope they won’t be needed but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Perhaps foolishly I decided to jump ship on Tuesday 7th, BACS transfer of a huge sum "left" my Kaupthing account on Wednesday 8th, no sign of it yet at the destination (First Direct). In hindsight should have maybe left the money where it was and been covered by the ING guarantee, or at least done a CHAPS instead. Never had savings before, I received an inheritance in March and am now a first time buyer here in the throws of securing a mortgage. Where's my money????? Scary times indeed.

Like you Neil the Moor - I jumped ship - CHAPS transfer on 8th and no sign of it in my Lloyds account. Thought I was doing the right thing and it makes me mad that the KE site actually allowed me to process the transaction. Rang KE Friday evening and they basically said I had to talk to ING, so Sat am spoke to ING and they said they couldn't comment on individual circumstances but they were working through a backlog. So I have to hope that this exactly what's happening...

All of this saga is very worrying and I can understand people`s concerns.
I was in the same boat as everyone else who have money with KE.
Last Sunday when things were looking, dodgy I arranged a BACS transfer, which was activated Monday the 6th.
Like the rest of you,no money appeared in my nominated on Tuesday but the money was shown as sent from KE.

This is the major worry,were the hell is the money if it`s shown as sent from KE but not arrived in LTSB?

Thankfully the dough arrived on Friday afternoon about 2pm by CHAPS.
Assuming that ING are not working or cannot send through the banking system at the weekend,more transfers should begin first thing in the morning.
If they are doing it on a first to last basis,then the later your BACS request,the later this coming week it will arrive.
AND IT WILL ARRIVE.

As for the strength of ING,well it was A.Darling that asked them to takeover.
The Dutch compo scheme does cover more money and they are of course in the EU,unlike Iceland.
Well that`s my 2p`s worth and I hope I`ve help set minds at rest a little bit.
