On the subject of where to put savings – once recovered. Remember that new accounts take some time to open. E.g. Bradford & Bingley place a 10-day delay between signing up online and accepting the first deposit.0

Yes, received CHAPS (requested Tues., processed Wed and gone from KE a/c) yesterday into my nominated bank late afternoon due to house purchase. Details in my message earlier this morning if you are interested!0

Since other people have started receiving their money, I don't envisage any problems.0 -
At long last I have managed to log on here taken me five days to do it and I was getting very frustrated at not being able to post only read comments. I did a Bacs transfer last Sunday requesting the money to come out of my acct on Monday the 6th but KE didn't do it till Tuesday the 7th, I withdrew all my money apart from £7 to keep the acct open, I have not had any problems getting my details on the KE site after signing in, my only concern is that my 3k has not turned up in my Halifax acct yet and not been credited back to my KE acct, but i'm sure it will.
I would like to thank everyone on here for thier input which has kept my spirits up. I do not blame Martin for this mess, and remember one of the sales principles is, Blame Only Yourself For Failure. Good luck everyone.0 -
Let's all just wait till everyone's money is safely through before deciding on joint action in terms of a mass compensation claim and protest to whichever party (or parties more likely) is/are responsible for putting us all through this traumatic experience.
I have,as already posted, received BACS payments from last Sunday and Monday,,but not for Tuesday am.....it seems pretty obvious that they ARE wading through hundreds of transfer requests and there really isn't much point in trying to work out HOW they're doing it.What is important is that they ARE doing it...and there is indeed evidence that at least one payment has come through from Tuesday.
Once the dust settles and everyone has their money,we will certainly want to know, among other things,if anyone such as the clearing bank has actually PROFITTED from our experience, and certainly whether KE were insolvent and therefore trading illegally while awaiting the takeover.
We will also want to know why on Tuesday ING call centre were tellng worried KE savers that withdrawals made before the takeover were "NOTHING TO DO WITH US!"
The whole affair has been grossly mis-handled and someone must pay the consequences in due course.....but everyone's money through first!!!!

I can understand those with hundreds of thousands invested who have lost three figure sums of interest looking to recoup that, and even for those who requested CHAPS transfers to ask for their £20 back, but for the majority of us its going to be single figure sums that have been lost in interest, so all things considered I think we should be grateful that ING have A) come in to rescue us, and
turned around money transfers out of KE as quickly as they have. Maybe their call centres didn't always give us the most reassuring or consistent info, but you need to remember that although it felt like a long time for us with money in limbo, its actually all happened very quickly. Therefore, its entirely possible at the time that ING didn't know what the situation was with the money in limbo, so couldn't give an accurate answer.
I think its also worth remembering though that if KE had gone to the wall and we had to go through the FSCS to recover money, it could have taken weeks or months to see anything, so I for one will not be seeking any compensation for the extra 2 days it eventually took my money to reach it's destination.
This "where there's blame there's a claim" culture we seem to be inheriting from the US really does start to grate after a while. :rolleyes:My Excel Mortgage Calculator Spreadsheet: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=11571730 -
I do agree, and have said so before ,that ING stepping in was very welcome, but surely it wasn't necessary to keep savers worried out of their wits for so many days without official confirmation that the"disappearing" money would eventually be transferred. According to some sources, including APACS on Friday, the money was going back to the KE accounts, and some may yet do so for all we know.
If you are told that no-one knows where your money is,and is not taking responsibility for funds transferred from a bank that's been declared insolvent, you are bound to be extremely concerned!!
If some of us are supposedly over-reacting,why do you think C4 and Working Lunch wanted to cover the story?0
