Kaupthing Edge CHAPS Transfer

Does anyone actually know who is administering the KE web site. Is it still KE staff or ING. I sent a message to them on 7 Oct using the site's secure messaging system, i.e. before the ING takeover, regarding a double CHAPS charge.
I am going to chase them up later next week once everyone has hopefully received their cash transactions.0 -
jacara2, Im not entirely sure what being on Working Lunch and C4 has to do with it, at the time when money is missing of course it was/is a worry for all of us, and those news programs wanted to highlight that (quite rightly), but that doesn't give any weight to talk of compensation.
Im not sure what you mean when you say "it wasn't necessary to keep savers worried out of their wits for so many days". In reality the takeover happened Wednesday, the first 24 hours or so there were admittedly mixed reports and conflicting information floating around but by Thursday afternoon there were releases from various parties, including ING, saying that all the withdrawl requests would be processed in due course, and by Friday lunchtime money had started flowing again to prove that correct.
If this had gone on for a week or two then I could understand your viewpoint, but the fact that such a large takeover has been pretty much sorted out within 48 hours is fairly remarkable IMHO.
What's more, like me you transferred by BACS and received your money yesterday afternoon, so in reality what do you feel you've you lost other than 2 days of interest, as the earliest you'd have received the money would have been Wednesday anyway?
I also notice that you've only been a member here since yesterday, with only 3 posts to your name, only posting for the first time after you'd got your money back. Im not saying that you weren't concerned about your money because Im sure you were, as we all were, but I do think its rather odd for your second ever post to be a rallying cry for "we" and "us" to join forces to claim compensation and issue joint action as if you're a spokesperson for the "group", when you've not exactly contributed to it before and the most that has been mentioned by others is a couple of posts about individuals claiming back lost interest, nothing that I can remember relating to joining up to legally pursue KE/ING for losses and answer to questions etc.My Excel Mortgage Calculator Spreadsheet: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=11571730 -
I would imagine that most people join this website (as with others) when something relevant to them is an issue. That seems perfectly normal and appropriate to me, that is what I have done. I have never before had cause to join, everything has been hunky dory for me up until now.
I thought it might be useful to join in with threads by people in a similar situation to myself, and it has been. However, although I will continue to post/read, I do feel that there is a real them/us attitude here which can be somewhat offputting to new posters. It takes some time to get used to rules and the ways of a forum and I, for one, have found some comments to be rather acerbic and not at all encouraging.
Just my views which will possibly be slated by those who have been around for longer.0 -

Liek you I am new to this site - only joined yesterday and within minutes of posting asking a question I was "put in my place" by a poster " who falsely accused me of "dispensing innacurate advice like asprin" when I had made about three posts ASKING for advice!! It was a bit offputting but the poster has not reappeared.0 -
Hi guys, as an ex KE saver I have been following this thread for the past few days but have only just managed to log back in so apologies if this question has been asked and answered a few hundered pages back! The last I read was that people had withdrew their money from KE and had no idea where it was or where having problems with the site etc... For those of us who had yet to try withdrawing the advice was to "leave it where it is" for the time being. Is this still the case? Are the majority of you withdrawing to your nominated bank accounts and then deciding where to deposit or are you going to leave your funds with ING? I have yet to take any action, I can see my full balance when I log in to KE and am just wondering if to try withdrawing or just leave it where it is.

I suppose some folk have to get their kicks somehow. LOL. It is a bit sad really. Not to worry, we are made of stronger stuff than that and will carry on posting.
Take care.0 -
I didn't post in until I got my money through as there seemed to be enough grief being expressed already. How often I posted in is irrelevant.....I am,like you, allowed to express an opinion as and when I choose to,and ,I'm sorry, there are plenty of people on here also unhappy at being put in the situation of not knowing where our money had gone.
I wasn't proposing to be a spokesperson,I merely suggested that if there is cause for complaint against anyone, which obviously some people feel there could well be, it might be better coming as a united front.I accept perhaps I should not have said "we",as everyone must do whatever they see fit when the time comes.
I apologise and will gracefully withdraw.
It's certainly pointless falling out over this, you're happy, you have your money, I'm ok as I have most of mine...our thoughts really should be with those still worrying when theirs will arrive.

I've taken all my money out of KE (and will, hopefully, see it next week). Most of it will be used to pay off a loan - KE was giving me a much higher rate than I was paying on the loan (from the continent, at around 3.5%), and I was quite happy to pocket the difference. The financial turmoil has spooked me, though, and I simply don't want to take the risk of all the uncertainties involved any longer, so the loan is going to be paid back as soon as my KE money arrives in my account (please ING, let it be Monday, pretty please).
Whatever is left (depending on how the pound does over the next week) is, however, going to go back into ING. The Depositogarantiestelsel (the Dutch equivalent of the FSCS) actually covers a little more money than the UK scheme, and the EU will simply not allow the Netherlands to discriminate against foreign nationals if payouts are required. It then just boils down to which country's scheme is more solvent... and here I don't see any reason to think the Netherlands's DGS is worse off in comparison with the UK's FSCS.
I'm not a financial whizkid so I may well be getting things completely wrong, but this is my current plan, anyway.CHAPS to Natwest: sent 9/10, RECEIVED 22/10 at 16.350
