Kaupthing Edge CHAPS Transfer

No my transfer was via BACS, it definetly is illegal, but do I want to go through the hassle and time to sue Kaupthing in Iceland or claim it back from Natwest who were the clearing and settlement bank on behalf of Kaupthing Edge...If I succed in litigation, I might get some cod coz the Icelandic government is bust!

What amazes me is that the Icelandic government only guarantee their own people's savings and not of foreign customers of its own banks which it regulates. If thats how they behave, maybe our Government/FSA/Bank of England should not have allowed them (regulatory approval) to acquire Singer & Friedlander plc, who has the banking licence. Poor form.

Its not a case of sueing, Kaupthing Edge internet savings are/were uk based they are governed by the FSA, you need to complain by phone or letter they have to investigate and compensate if nessecary (could never spell that word!!) joking aside, a letter or phone call to KE has to be dealt with. There are strict rules they need to abide to.

Just an update to sat my CHAPS from Tuesday 7 hasn't arrived - But I'm a little more chilled now I see that ING are clearing the backlog and that there is progress.

I'm yet another one (mug?) waiting for Money to hit my linked account from Kaupthing. Wish now I hadn't setup the BACS Transfer, which I eventually actioned Wed 8/10/08 ... so I could well be waiting a while based on the posts here !!

It's a sad day when you can't trust your money to be safe in a bank.

I have now opened 5 x accounts with other banks and will spread the money ... that's assuming I ever get my hands on it.

It look like from previous posts people are getting the money through but at this stage only from request previous to tuesday I imagine you will see yours early next week
