There are hundreds (if not thousands) of overseas British depositors who have lost massive sums through the collapse of Icelandic Banks in the Isle of Man (IOM). They are not "tax evaders", but simply British people living or working abroad - who thus are unable to open bank/savings accounts in the UK. Whilst much hand-wringing goes on about those who will eventually be re-imbursed by the FSCS scheme in the UK, I ask you not to forget those fellow nationals caught up in an unholy triangle of Icelandic/UK/IOM legislation and pan-national banking arrangements. There are many who may have lost their entire life savings in the welter of small print and broken promises from Icesave and Kaupthing Edge.

There is a handful of us having that problem ... Mat is trying to resolve.

I wrote to the Motley Fool website asking why they had no mention of KSF(IoM) customers amongst all their articles on Icelandic banks, and they've now posted something:

Manx Radio bulletin reports IoM government has confirmed legally binding parental guarantee of Kaupthing hf to KSFIoM and has requested HMG to take action to recover depositors' funds.
