I am in the same boat. And I still haven't made a decision to take the penalty and get the money out or not. My thoughts are as follows:

''Anglo Irish Bank Corporation (International) PLC. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Anglo Irish Bank Corporation plc.''
That's from their website. Isn't that the same as an Irish Govt guarantee?

What is the penalty for early withdrawal with them out of interest?
  • Dear all,
My wife and I were depositors with KE(IOM) and we, too, are wondering where the money has gone! We really feel for those who have suffered significant losses.

Some contributors reported that they have no records of online transactions and, for many, there will be nothing that can be done to retrieve something that you can print out. However, if you have Google Desktop on your PC, it is possible that it has quietly kept a copy of your visits to the KE website. Try typing "Kaupthing" into the search box on your taskbar. As you type, a list of cached documents matching your entry will appear.

We have just looked at our "cache" of visits and have been fortunate to have been able to print out our recent transactions.

It's a small crumb of comfort, but I hope that it might be useful for those wanting to get copies of transactions.

    Best wishes to all
  • Willumcat. To be honest I wouldn't worry to much about documents. All the records will be somewhere in the banking system and will be eventually found and sorted out.

loads of us have ... slowly getting sorted. I think Mat's in a distant time-zone, and staying up at night to help us here!
  • Anyone who can log into the ksfiom depositors site - as I can´t for some reason - there´s a story on the BBC site where we can possibly raise awareness of our problems by leaving comments:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/7660511.stm
  • Could someone helpd to sort out this website. http://www.ksfiomdepositors.com

Its an excellent effot but misses the mark if people cannot post. I cannot register,& been trying all day, and I am not alone. Passwords are not being emailed and junk filters are not the issue. It's missing lots of valuable input.

We also need the help of the press. Has anyone contacted Channel 4 News?

Its a very worthwhile story. But the issue here is again we were off-shore.

But we lost our transfers to the UK because the UK stopped them when they came in. UK is now fighting with Iceland to get UK savers money back, while they have 8bm frozen Icealand assets (and ours) here in the UK.
    James & I'm
  • Everyone. You'll know from my previous posts here and at the MSM site I've been following this from the beginning and have done my best to unite everyone. For some of this time we (including me) have tried to maximise publicity and put pressure on as many people/organisations as possible. It would "appear", at least, there are real discussions going on behind-the-scenes to try and come to some sort of beneficial solution for us all. I have absolutely no knowledge of them myself, but I just hope it is true and even if it is only a possibility I do not want to jeopardise them. And let's face it market fear has been the real enemy throughout all of this global crisis. As someone in another post points out there may be other financial companies with money in KSF(IoM) who also stand to lose, and the relevant people on the island I have no doubt know exactly what is at stake. Also, frankly, our other options really do not cheer me up. I do not have faith Gordon Brown or the Icelandic Govt will help us despite whatever obligations we feel they may have. Both of them have much larger problems to deal with than us.

One point I revisited after reading some of the comments made on the ksfiomdepositors site calling for calm and quiet: KSF(IoM) is not currently in liquidation yet. It has stopped trading and had its banking licence suspended. There is no liquidation until the petition for winding up is considered on 24th October. Perhaps there is still time for it to be saved.
I now think our best policy may be to quietly sit tight and wait to see what happens over the next few days.
I could well be wrong about this, I hope not, as I'm in the same boat as the rest of you.
