Occams, hi do you know if there is a problem with the site, or is it just me? is there anything major happening today. Also, I get lost in that site, and I have a few questions ...
1. if I want to volunteer to help, what can I do
2. there was a poll about paying money and i couldnt work out how and to whom we are supposed to pay
3. what are the key actions and next immediate steps we should follow
Yes, the site has been down for me today. I don't know why am afraid, though sure it is only technical problems. I don't run it technically.
1. Well, if the site is up, just keep there for news of how to help, there's lots of posts on what people should be doing, though for an individual right now there's not a huge deal to do.
2. I don't believe money is needed at this immediate moment, but if those who are on the island helping us do need it, they said they will advise the forum what they need and how.
3. With the site down, am not quite sure. What I do know is that there are a bunch of depositors on the island and elsewhere who are putting as much pressure on the relevant people as possible, and am sure today they are continuing to do so regardless of if the site is down.
If you get the chance to push our case in the media, go for it. I do hope the site goes back up soon.0 -

Hello Worried. I had the same problem joining KSFIoM but its only certain email addresses that seem to create problems. Sign up to another (e.g. mail.com, gmail. yahoo etc.) and see what happens -- when KSFIoM reappears from the ether.

Heads-up for you offshore folks. There was a feature on y'all on this evenings Channel 4 news. I got a phone call, so couldn't hear what was said, but you might want to catch it on 4+1. It's about 15 minutes in. Includes live interview with Icelandic PM chappy.0

Could anybody please clarify the situation for savers with Kaupthing Edge Isle of Man? Today's Daily Express threw me into a panic when I read that although Ing Direct have taken over Kaupthing, IOM savers are not covered and are at the mercy of the liquidators. It stated that although the Manx govt have set up a compensation scheme it is unclear whether this will apply to Kaupthing customers. I have read elsewhere that there is a Depositors Compensation Scheme but nothing seems certain. Any information would be greatly appreciated.0

Response to ExpatFrance: One of the Anglo Irish bank acs (Privilege) is available only to those non resident or domiciled in the UK. They appear to have Irish govt compensation should the worst happen as this link is on their website http://www.angloirishbank.com/Media-Centre/Latest_News/Government_Decision_to_Safeguard_Irish_Banking_System.html
None of the compensation schemes are reassuring should there be a total run on a bank by all depositors. It's a confidence building measure only imho. What I have no idea is if the IoM compensation scheme (for non Irish ie all other offshore banks) IF necessary would take forever to pay out depositors - or far longer and more complex than in the UK?0
