You sound surprised !
If you remember last christmas, the same thing happened with the new slimline PS2.
And it will happen again next year with the PS3.
It is called supply and demand.
You want it bad enough, then pay the price.
Most of us can happily wait until next year, when the 360 will be half of todays prices.

Had a call back then to say that the product shouldn't have been on the internet on Friday because they didn't have any hard drives in stock (?) and they weren't likely to receive any before xmas!
Mine was exactly the pack that you ordered i.e The Core Pack, Hard Drive, King Kong and Perfect Dark. I ordered at 9.05am on Friday. Hope this helps you out.0 -
'When Xbox 360 does come into stock, we will send you a link to a secret page that will allow you to grab an Xbox 360 bundle. As a preorder customer you will receive this information before it becomes public to give you a better chance to get in first.'
My email seems to be worded slightly differently from yours.W1zz wrote:giwebb - I don't think Game are switching to 'game package' I think they just worded it badly. My understanding is that they mean 'Core' or 'Full'

Got email to contact Comet to arrange delivery of my xbox.
The adviser i spoke to said they should be taking delivery of a new Package deal from microsoft on the 15th December. Fingers crossed!!! :xmassign::rotfl:0 -
No.. I am not surprised, at all.
I do think that people do tend to get hysterical around this time of year, and unfortunately Microsoft and their paid psychologists play on the minds of desperate parents and gamers alike.
The whole undersupply and demand thing is the oldest trick in the book, and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised for the shops to be filled with consoles in a couple of weeks, and everyone will be buying one because the news is filled with stories of how rare they are.. so best get one while we can etc etc.
Complete marketing rubbish.
I emplore people not to let Microshaft get away with it, cancel your orders, explain the situation to the children and buy them one Spring next year when they will be able to get the FULL system AND some games for £199.
Besides, there are various reports of overheating problems in some units already filtering through, so until you can 100% happy with your purchase, both economically and from a reliability point of view, I wouldn't bother.
As an IT professional I usually advise people never to buy a M  crosoft product on Release Day anyway!0 -

I have heard numerous dates, but most game sites are using Spring 2006.
If it is the case that it wont be until Autumn 2006, then that's fine, I'll be able to get an XBOX 360 for £99!
Sony are still saying Spring on their site -

the ps3 doesnt have a release date at all, so it will go to Japan first, second usa and europe 3rd, and sony wont do a worldwide launch like MS have with the 360.
Pencil in xmas 2006 or early 2007 for the uk.
and the lowest the 360 will drop will be £200-250 for the premium pack, they are already losing £250 on making the 360 now.Total CC Debt: £1750
Overdraft £1300
Car Loan £1750
Savings £0
Redundancy OCT £2000
Wage this month £5400 -
well if the PSP is anything to go by then sony will release in japan a year earlier than europe and when it does eventually reach europe they will still claim not to be able to have enough to supply

That's why they are charging £50 a game!
Got make some money somewhere I suppose.. after all, Bill G*tes must be on his last few coppers by now.. :snow_laug
I suppose if you need hope go into the shops and see the original XBOX with games for £79.99 not bad for something that was £299.99 on launch 3 years ago!0 -
