So does the list look a bit better?
Although you might think i've got a lot of veg i always find that march and april are always a bit low but i think knowing that i could make it stretch a bit further. I should also have some spring cabbages ready to eat in those months.
Milk - due to my toddler who loves her milk iwe get through approx 24 pints a week and i think this is one area i can't change. I'm trying to get her to drink more squash but she still needs that fat.Kind Regards

cant skimp on what the kids need!!! perhaps some tinned and dried milk in case of an emergency. its ok for tea and cooking. but thatlist sure looks a lot better. do you make your own bread?? and all that lovely lolly saved by growing your own. where are you?? :rotfl: hope you may be near me!!!0

I think your second list looks better. I'd buy some porrage oats with the remaining £3. Good for bulking out stews and, obviously, breakfast.0

If you are shopping in store at Tesco you can use money off coupons to lower your overall bill. Different stores have different policies but always worth a go.
If online shopping don't forget there are numerous money off online codes for tesco to get the shoping bill down more. Search the codes aqnd discounts thread on MSE.
Or you could sell your gift cards on ebay, achieve not much under the amount as these seem to go for really good money, and go shopping somewhere much cheaper like lidl or aldi and get twice as much for your money.:D

Yes, i started making my own bread about two months ago and got a panasonic bread maker as a present few weeks ago. i find it so much cheaper and the children love the taste plus pizza is so so cheap now - i can make 3 large pizza's with loads of toppings for £1.20. so that's our sat night meal as the children can help.
I'm in Bristol, first got the allotment and loved it then, got the chickens 9wish i'd got them years ago)and now I love making all my own food and bread.
As you were all concerned about my tea bags (forgot theywere boxes of 240 and not 160) i'm only just allowing myself my second cup of the day:rotfl:wrote: »think your second list looks better. I'd buy some porrage oats with the remaining £3. Good for bulking out stews and, obviously, breakfast.

Hiya the second list definately looks a lot better
Does your tesco's do the big bags of sugar? May work out a bit cheaper to buy in larger sizes.
I'd stick in a couple of plain flour as well for things like sausage toads.pastry etc. Also have you got yeast in?
Do you only eat 'posh' beans lol or can you reduce this to the value ones?
I've never had a gift card do you have to spend it all in one go or can you do it in bits?? Reason I ask is that way you can stock up on specific items when they are reduced

dont know about margarine type stuff but you can freeze butter. and cheese. remember to keep the cheese in usable portions though. or grate it before you freeze it.0
