Asda stopping coupon use

No comment in my local Waitrose when I used a number of vouchers today, so hope this does not spread to all stores refusing to accept as "cash".0

I used £17.00 worth of money off coupons in Asda at the weekend and was told by the checkout girl that as of end of this month they are no longer accepting coupons. Thing is I did actually buy the items that the coupons were for. I bought £10.00 worth of butchers dog food for my dog and used £10.00 worth of butchers vouchers so cant see what the problem is !!!Smoke-free since 7/12/2011 :0)

They say (and do!) anything they feel like doing, at the time. You can write to Customer Services all you want, the fact is that handing a coupon over - even if you are buying the product - takes a fair bit of nerve; because it's a gamble, every time, whether you will be refused or not.
I don't often use coupons for this reason - but did, this week, and met up with a smart-!!! assistant, who refused to take a 40p coupon for a newspaper - even though I was buying the paper!
You will meet Pocket Hitlers everywhere. Sometimes it's just not worth the hassle.0 -
my partner works at asda in north east and been told all supermarkets been told to only accept them if buying item - apparentlt some new law (whether thats true is another thing)
shame could save a couple of pounds a week with vouchers - also meant even if buy product voucher could expired before could use but could use straight away insteadDebt free, except mortgage since 2021
49,000 to go0 -
morrisons seem to be clamping down too but i think that because of the amount of forgeries they're getting!:starmod:If you dance with the devil, the devil don't change. The devil changes you:starmod:0

There's another post on here somewhere from a while ago showing that Asda & Tesco actually had written policies to accept vouchers for any items which they stocked. So really it's their fault, but it's probably partly to do with people taking the p!ss - I was in a queue behind a woman who paid for 8 bottles of whiskey using mostly coupons for nappies! Wrong on so many levels...
It's a shame though, I've got so many coupons for things I'll never buy, and none for anything I want.0 -

Supermarket staff can get a bit too big for their boots sometimes, given the amount we spend in them. I hate the places myself:mad:An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:

I am no expert in property but have lived in many types of homes, in many locations and can only talk from experience.0 -
I remember the other week in Asda, buying Activia yoghurts using BzzAgent vouchers, well using them towards them as they were 50p off ones. The silly girl behind the checkout had to call 3 supervisors and because "I know nothing about this promotion and Activia haven't called us" they refused to accept it. So Danone really has to ring up thousands of UK retailers? I don't think so.
I've never tried to use a voucher for anything it wasn#t intended for but here's a thought; if you use, say a Tesco clubcard/Nectar card and/or pay by card, you can be traced so if you're a serial/big p1ss taker they may start tracking people down. This is the stalker state after all....0 -
Also, the self checkouts at my local Asda, the coupon slots have been taped over and I was wondering why this is and now I know. Thanks again to the minority spoiling it for the majority.0
