I supplied at a school in Fareham yesterday, and they offered me a temporary job!
It'll only be for about 4 months (covering for someone who had a heart attack), but I'll be able to finish off my NQT year. sexymouse xx
That's great news Sexy and you were missed - in fact as I logged on today I wondered if you'd be here today...I had assumed you would have been on supply.SarahShattered wrote: »I'll attempt that later.... if it's not too much like bragging/boasting???I mean, I'm delighted about it, but I'd hate to seem like I was being a braggart.... You could try phoning a residential home see if they would like them for some of the old people.. they are often very grateful for stuff. Especially suitable clothing as they go through so much.. not that I think you dress like you are 80 but because it popped in my head when I thought about your stuff.. lol.. When my gran died all her clothes and smellies went to the residential home up the road... including pants! Please can somebody help I am jellied.
There is no dead smiley so pretend there is because I am.However as I staggered off to pass out I did splurge it with tescos limescale remover, do I get a prize, flying even when extremely sick.:D
Never ever drinking red wine ever again. Very dramatic looking vomit, I must say, sorry if that was TMI.:p
Flying when 'feeling emotional' trophy for you...
Stardrops gets it out of carpets;)and !!! YAY ME !!! I've finally found somewhere and have just booked it for my week off... an old coastguard cottage right on the beach about 40 miles away. Slightly over budget but it's got everything I want - open fire, can take the dog, remote, but not too remote - it does have neighbours. And it has an internet connection so I can pop in and say hello every so often. OOh, I'm getting quite excited now. I shall go straight after work next Friday.
Hope you have a fab time!

I am very proud of myself. Hope you don't mind that girls.
Well done Valli. A much more worthwhile way of spending your day than mine (shopping, laundry, trying to empty work mailbox so I can send from it!). And it counts as exercise and socialising too!
My visit to the real shops went OK... although I did spend rather more money than planned as they actually had stuff I wanted for a change. So I have lots of lovely organic lotions and potions (including some rose oil perfume - I was obviously influenced by Valli earlier this week, and it smells fabulous), millet, barley, sesame seeds, red tofu, green tofu, chocolate-covered cherries, and have just had a vegetable chilli pie for lunch.
I also found some Haddon Hall plates that were half price (ordered for a wedding that didn't happen...) which will do for my parents for Christmas. They've been collecting it slowly since they got married, but as it's unbelievably expensive, they only get it if we spot something in a sale!
Then I gave up, bought some lightbulbs (why do all these places that send out free bulbs send the same ones - I have lots of spares, but had to go and buy some screwcap ones for my outside lights) and came home before it got too much.
Pigpen - why are you cooking your laundry?0 -
You gave your granny's smelly pants away? :rotfl: :rotfl:
No we gave away my gran boil washed barely worn undies.. and dozens of pairs that had never been worn and they went to very grateful elderly ladies who had no family to care for them, or whose family just didn't care enough to bring them new things in mainly. Many families don't realise how often such garments need replacing and they end up wearing nothing short of rags as they have to be washed so hot.Pigpen - why are you cooking your laundry?
To make sock soup... it is most delicious! Don't know much do you?LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Nicki - the models are great
Valli - well done but shame about the wet bottom!!Don't put it down, put it away - thanks Valli
Thank you to all who post competitions & help the smooth running of the comps board0 -
Actually you're quite right there Pigpen - when my gran was in a care home (well a succession of them - she had Alzeimers) we name taped all her stuff but left it all there when she died as we were only too aware of how few get visitors regularly and have enough clothes etc.
My bottom is dry and warm now lol
And do you know (this will bring a hail of sarcy comments) there were two women, two kids and all the other volunteers were men!
And scarily one of the new men (ie one who wasn't there last year) recognised me as being local - has seen me around.
This is TERRIBLE
I was wearing tracky bottoms, an oversized Derby County sweatshirt, Green Wellies, a High vis vest, hair like rats tails (not that I have seen any today lol) a bumbag (to keep phone and keys dry - good thinking there then Valli) and NO SLAP. NADA, NOT EVEN A LICK OF MASCARA. How the f*** did he recognise me as am usually beautifully turned out with porcelain complexion!
