Will any bank open a basic account with her?
I can easily setup an standing order named 'maintenence' - this sounds like a good idea.
Going back to a previous question though, how long do banks hold records for? Could I prove I've been paying £100 a month standing order in 10 years time? (from 2008 till 2018)
Off the top of my head, I'm pretty sure Lloyds and Barclays open basic accounts for non discharged bankrupts. There's a bankruptcy board on here, why don't you post there and ask as these people would know.:D
As for the other question, I'm not entirely sure. Is is not 6 years? Only reason I am saying that is because that's how long you can claim charges etc. If you arranged to pay it to her account through a s/o though, it would show on your account as £100.00 to X account and be named 'maintenance for xxx' so if you have online banking print off your statements or keep a file on your paper ones.
Re your other post...don't bash yourself up. No one goes into relationships thinking they are going to fail do they? You assume and hope it's forever. If we were all cynical then frankly there would be no children as no one would ever do the do!!!;)0 -
Does that still apply if she is not on IB? In all honesty I don't think she is on IB anymore, she hasn't been on holiday in a while.
Hello again Loopy Girl btw. :j
It would be any prescribed benefit...now that could be IB, IS (which would be usual for a single parent), JSA etc etc. It's just a new rule. It used to be you get to keep £10.00 but it's now £20.00.
Only thing it wouldn't cover would be WTC but then you need to be working to get that and by the sounds of things, she would rather pour acid in her eyes!!!
Aloha to you tooI do have a life you know and don't spend all my time on here but am off work poorly at the mo and am booorrreddd!!!;)

These forums are addictive though. I used to be a regular on the techie board (hence the post count), tried to help people as I was fed up with PC techies ripping people off left, right and centre.0

Just had a good read on there, the Barclays one sounds good to me, she can even use the post office to draw money back out.
I'm armed with so much info I'm dangerous! I shall explode a whole lot of kick !!! info on her..............YEAH!:money:0 -
Thanks loopy i think i am going abit loopy myself today. Yes she would be over with £100 per months. I think my maths needs brushing up on. All the rest i said was still a good idea. Also to the op. If you do pay by standing order KEEP all your statements that have the amounts on until you child reaches 20.0

I was contacted by the 'options' people about the new arrangements last week. The csa haven't even asked for the details they need from my ex yet-they have admitted this to me-and I have been on benefits since April.
I was quite surprised with what the lady said to me. She said from this month you are allowed to keep £20 but soon it would go up to almost everything you get from the pwc. She also said 'it's down to you to declare what you get-no-one will check up on this.'!
I have to get further advice. My soon to be ex husband is already paying his first ex on the old rules and I'm not sure how me 'going solo' will affect this, whther they will class him as able to pay his ex-moneybags more as he pays me less! (mind you he's paid nothing so far lol!)Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0 -
Hi,
Im hoping someone can advise me. I am a single parent of one child. Me and my sons dad split up due to domestic violence. My ex has always threatend me that he would harm me, leave his job and the country if I ever went to the csa. For over 6 and a half years, he has never financially supported my son. There were times when I had to get an injunction out on him due to the domestic violence. I am unable to work at the moment due to health and illness matters but am hoping to start studying and trying to improve to get better health wise so I can get back to work. My son is nearly 7 now and I am finding things a real struggle financially. Over the years I have allowed contact when its been safe to do so but each time the contact stops when it comes to him helping out a bit with my son. I dont have any family apart from my brother, so its been really tough. Each time it comes to asking him to help out with clothes or shoes for my son, he goes mental and dissapears in drink binges. He also dissapears when its xmas and my sons birthday.
My sons dad has a good job, earns a high wage yet refuses to help.
His 1st wife went to the csa, she gets her money directly out his wages. Her daughter is now 14 and the mother works so she gets the full csa payment. His 2nd partner before me also has a child from him, she gets money cash in hand as she is on benefits. But my son gets nothing.
My son is now at the age where he is growing fast, he has joined a local football club, its not expensive but can cost up to £9 a week and thats without the travel. I have to get the bus as I cannot drive. My son also joined scouts last week, which is app £4 a week. He has cooking club after school which is £1, I know it doesnt sound a lot but it is. With the credit crunch things are so tight. I have had to struggle since I was pregnant. I am going to get better and eventually get a job, hopefully by early next year.
I am just a bit confused about the csa. I am aware its changed but not sure who to go about it. Am I entitled to £20 a week on top of my income support? That would pay for his football and scouts. Would this mean that his daughetrs csa money would drop? I dont want that. he told me I would ruin her life if her money went down. Yet he was telling her not to go college and to get a job so he wouldnt have to pay anymore csa to her mum.
Do I have to re apply for income supprt or do the csa do it all for you as in informing income support. I dont want to be overpaid ect. I am worried coz I have heard so many horror stories. Also has the back to work bonus stopped? Thanks in advance.x0 -
Sorry I posted it in the wrong place, il get moderator to put it in the right place.0

My advice is to stick to the sytem it will be much easier for her in the long run. I get £38 a week from CSA and income suport top it up with £30 a week. That way what u pay for the older child will be in your pocket and you can still spend it on the both of them as you wish. I wouldnt give her any money in her 'hand' because that can only lead to rows later on. At least if its all above board she cant use it against you. If you do decide to do it privatley I would get her to open a bank account and set up a standing oder and name it maintaince and keep all the records. You should have a case worker with the CSA that can give you advice. Good luck0
