No worries - it's very confusing!0 -

Nice to hear an NRP say that
Just don't let her screw you for money. I'm a woman (as my name may suggest and yes, I can be loopy sometimes!!) and some of the stories I read on here make me ashamed to be part of that gender.:o0 -
Erm - there is a fair amount of mis-information being given in this thread.
From 27th October ALL child maintenance gathered by the CSA is paid to the parent with care. If the Parent with care is on benefits it is their responsibility to tell the Job Center about the income. £20 per week is disregarded, anything above that will be counted as income.
http://www.cmoptions.org/ gives more details of the options available.
(Just read the last post - if she was in receipt of Incapacity benefit, she would be considered a private client - all arrears to her, none to the SOS.)
My god this is so confussing. She doesnt claim incapacity anymore, I think they finally saw through her (she did mention her last meeting was with a new 'older' bloke, she said he wasn't as nice as her previous advisor (or whatever they are called). However I don't know if she has had another meeting since we split, so could well be back on it by now. Thats her business I guess, not mine.0 -

It shouldn't really affect you though. When the CSA do the calculation, you let them know about any payments you have made during this time, and they can be taken off the arrears if the parent with care agrees that they were paid for child maintenance. (You can even include clothes you've bought for the kids, because if the parent with care agrees, they can be included.)
The tricky part will be for the CSA working out what arrears are due to the parent with care.
SOS = Secretary Of State - where arrears are due if parent with care is on benefit.0 -
SOS - Secretary of State.
Money due to the dole!!!!!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
One thing she did say (I remember it because it kinda made some bells ring in my head)
She said something along the lines of 'I will tell them you provide for them, buy them clothes etc. That way they will be ok with the amount I get off you'
I don't know if that makes any sense, it wasn't worded like that exactly.....just along those lines.
Maybe I should just keep CSA involved, that way I'm covered and am doing everything to the legal system.
I'd rather be skint now and for the next 17 years instead of the possibility of getting a arrears letter in 20yrs time when I hopefuly have moved on (kids are old enough to choose if they want to see me), and then have the choice of a new partner and mortgage/rent etc.
It must really seem like she has me bent over backwards, and yes she does.....the thought of her taking my non-biological child off me is not even worth thinking about.....if she is calling my bluff on this then so be it, there is no way on this earth i'm going to do anything that risks me not seeing her. Not a bluumin chance!
Just means I get to spoil my kids instead of spoiling a new woman. Fine by me after all this.0 -
