You can't pay into or pay anything from post office accounts. They are only for the payment of benefits.

You are treading on thin ice with the 'benefits' and 'non worker' comments.

She has been on benefits for 10 years, is not interested in working end of period!. These are facts, I never said anyone else on here is/has done the same. Sounds like you got all paranoid and defensive for a minute. ;)

Everything I have written is fact, thats all I can do to try get a honest opinion from you guys/girls.

It's no picnic bringing up children on just over £120.00 a week.

Its no picnic having 2 kids taken away from you either, belive me I was very close to finishing myself at one point. Knowing if I find another partner she will take the non-biological child away from me, knowing i'm more than likely going to grow old on my own. Not exactly happy days for me either.

The thing that makes me real angry is the fact she has ALOT more than me, a house 90% rent paid for, council tax more or less paid for plus benefits etc etc. Bet she comes out with £300 a month more than me!

I got her pregnant, I have to deal with it all. I am, not easy but getting slightly easier. :T

Thanks for all the advice though, it's bluumin hard not to get so passionate about things when writing them on a forum....

It doesn't exactly sound like your ex is playing hard ball to me..

She can't influence any amount you owe the csa before you come to a private arrangement but in accepting £100.00 per month from you she is probably trying to come up with an amount the csa/benefits office will find accepable/believable while also not losing very much in benefits in case you don't pay for any reason (as you cannot get additional funds if NRP misses a payment) in any case I have been told by bods at housing benefit that child maintenance will soon not be included as income for Income support - but only for housing benefit so in taking this amount from you she is maximising her (and kids) income without unduly affecting yours.

If you need confirmation about how to go about making sure a private arrangemnet is valid I would phone csa for advice.

So firstly, check the CSA website and make sure you're saving approx the correct amount.

And i admire the way you're providing for your child (and the other one!!) and trying to do the right thing. (Thats not meant to sound patronising)

Thanks for the in-depth quoted reply! I need to print that out and really sit down with a clear head to understand it completely.

Clear head...........such a distant dream lol.

Just had a thought...how could she be claiming benefits for 10 years if you have a 3 year old and she has 'taken him away'? That to me sounds like she has moved out of a home you were sharing

Taken him away? Who is 'him'?

We lived together of course, up until her moving out taking the kids with her.

10yrs of Incapacity to work, but not incapacited to visit 'Next' on benefits day. Not exactly science is it. :rotfl:

I see why its such a big problem here in the UK, it seems so easy.....do these people get a monthly newsletter on how to play the system or something. Just worries me to death that it will rub off onto the kids......specially when I see how academicaly advanced the eldest is. I'd be gutted if she chooses that route.

Erm - there is a fair amount of mis-information being given in this thread.

From 27th October ALL child maintenance gathered by the CSA is paid to the parent with care. If the Parent with care is on benefits it is their responsibility to tell the Job Center about the income. £20 per week is disregarded, anything above that will be counted as income.
http://www.cmoptions.org/ gives more details of the options available.

(Just read the last post - if she was in receipt of Incapacity benefit, she would be considered a private client - all arrears to her, none to the SOS.)
