This is a good review of the 'One' that compares it to the 300 unit.
Basically the One is meant to be a stripped down version of the Go 300, but in reality it does not have anything really missing (bar sligtly less battery life and the speaker/volume not being quite as good). In contrast in fact, it is a smaller more compact unit and has a better chipset that should offer better reception.
There is not much between the two units, but with this price difference I think One is by far the one to go for.

If you have one of these and feel like doing a quick test for me - have a look here!
Thanks!

Other things "missing" from TomTom One over the 300 are:
- AC adaptor (for charging the unit indoors)
- carry case (though you could get a good camera case for £10 whch would be much better than the flimsy one supplied)
But this is more than compensated for by the more advanced chipset on the TomTom One which can 'lock and hold' onto GPS Satellite even whilst indoors and built-up areas. My 300 can take a bit of "waking up" and can loose signal in heavily built-up areas (though you can switch on the feature called Assisted Satellite Navigation) which will attempt to approximate your location.
All in all, I think the use of a better chipset and a £100 price difference makes the TomTom One the one to go for.0 -
I agree with flashman_62. TT ONE picks up the satelites in my car which has the heat resistant windscreen whereas the TT GO 300 would not. The screen is brighter. The sound is OK but not as loud before distortion compared with the GO. The unit is slimmer, therfore easier to carry.
But as flashman says you have to buy as extras if you want them the AC charger and the TT ONE case. Despite this I think the TT ONE is by far the better buy.
I think the TT ONE heralds the start of a new range of TT satnavs that will replace the GO 300, 500 and 700 range principally for the more powerful built-in GPS receiver.Old Faithful we roam the range together,

Tony_H wrote:Ok, this is a little fiddly. Firstly you have to check that your local Argos store has it in stock & it's priced at £223.99 then go along to your local Currys whom will match it & deduct 10% of the difference making it £219.50
If you can find it cheaper to purchase instantly please don't tell me!!
hmm....i tried this and they would only price match it to 223.99.....it was either that OR 10% off.
TT one is great and works fine with my Pug 307xsi and its windscreen...its much slimer and fits better in a coat pocket
only downsides are its a bit quieter....but fine though.....and it doesnt come with a case...though these can purchased via the TT site at a hefty £25 inc deliveryStevie Coppell's record breaking blue and white royal army - championship winners 2005-60 -
TOMTOM1 is available for £220 from the carphonewarehouse with no vouchers or price matches.

Just search for sat nav in the left hand menu bar.

So which is the better buy, the TOMTOM1 for £220 or the Navman ICN320 for £163.99?
Can the POI camera database be put on either? and is the Navman's screen really as small as it looks?0 -
