I think I have told the story before of a lady I queued behind in the PO who wanted the Post Mistress to handle her parcel properly as I had to be carried horizontally as it was a fancy celebration cake in a small flimsy box. She had written on the box that it was to be held carefully at all times, and she had helpfully left the lid of the box open so the postman could check that the cake was OK en route in his arms.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Crikey soolin - not sure I would have been able to keep a straight face!
This person I have just bought from thinks that because she put a fragile label on the front then it was sufficiently packagedNot been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/1550 -
If it was me i'd contact Ebay and get their advice by speaking to someone.
I had this problem before and when i contacted the seller all i got was negative feedback (although buyers can no longer recieve it) and abuse!
The seller may have a return policy, in which case it's worth reviewing the listing to see what it says, and contact them after you have spoken to Ebay. ... Spend and let spend ...

Unfortunately ebay are not much help in this situation. Go through Ebay dispute console which takes you through to PayPal to make a claim. The seller gets their chance to post something too and you can add pictures etc of the condition and say what you want to. If you can't get a decent outcome then you can turn your dispute into a claim and PayPal will decide who is liable for the cost / whether or not you get the refund. Not been here in years! Ebay is never much help!
The could explain what to do next, like you did did, though, which makes it easier for someone who doesn't know what they're doing. ... Spend and let spend ...

Good point - definately have a look on ebay at their dispute console for advice. If you get an email response they'll just tell you to do just that.
Just stick to your guns though, don't feel bad for trying to claim back what you are owed. Remember its their fault and not yoursNot been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/1550 -

how about addresses then
http://www.teletext.co.uk/news/national/fb87bf98e9357bccf2aab509a22fd8ad/Undeliverable+mail+headache.aspxThe number of badly addressed letters and packets handled by the Royal Mail is set to reach 25 million since the start of the year, figures show.
Each week, about 600,000 items of mail are so badly addressed or packaged that they cannot be delivered. Thousands just have a name and no address.
Undeliverable mail is sent to a centre in Belfast, where letter detectives try to identify the correct recipient.
how many of those items do you think are claimed for as lost?0 -
The seller is now saying it's not her fault and she has a daughter to bring up, etc.
I get the impression she will refund me if she gets a refund from Royal Mail, but not otherwise and not before.
Paypal dispute?
What are my chances...?
I'm really annoyed. I was only trying to be nice - she's not the only one with financial worries!
PS Thanks to everyone who's offered advice so far. I really appreciate it.
PPS Have just noticed that I can't actually open a dispute until the weekend... You have to wait 10 days, apparently.0 -
Go through paypal, (I'm not sure why people are suggesting the ebay dispute console) you should be able to open the dispute on day 7.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Well she's not going to be able to get any compensation from Royal Mail so she's not going to give you a refund. You need to open a paypal dispute. If she still refuses to refund, I would escalate it straight away. Paypal will almost certainly find in your favour.0
