  • It was there this afternoon when I went to the site to add some money. So looks as though they have changed things since close of business today. I suppose next will be interest rate plunge :(

As I understand it, B&B don't want you to "push" money to the Internet Saver account via BACS transfer or similar, but rather to "pull" it via direct debit from your nominated current account.
This is correct. When I opened my B&B bond, I'd asked for the interest to be paid directly into my Internet Saver account. After several phone calls to head office, the lady eventually established that it couldn't be set up like that as only DD was permitted for depositing to online accounts. A sort code and account number do exist, but they are only used internally and aren't given to customers.

In short, all deposits to the online accounts have to be from your linked account (or other B&B online accounts) only.

Is Bradford and Bingley still classed as a UK bank with the UK 50K FSCS protection, or is it now under a different Spanish scheme?

It also looks like B&B have pulled their Internet Saver (Issue 3) account as of today: at least, it's not advertised on their website any more. In fact, rather confusingly, it currently doesn't feature on their saving rates page either - neither as a currently-available account nor a no-longer-available account. Having just opened an account earlier this week, I'll be a bit miffed (but not entirely suprised) if Abbey are about to slash the rate on this account ... _pale_

I have spoken with B&B this morning and can confirm that they have closed their Internet Saver (Issue 3) account to new applicants. The lady I spoke with claimed that the interest rate remains unchanged (6.51%), but I personally doubt it will remain at this level for long, as it seems considerably higher than the rates for the equivalent accounts from Abbey (the new owner of B&B savings).

Esaver issue 3 account has dropped to 5.55% from 6.51%
Looks like its time to move to Esaver issue 6 at 6.10%

Esaver issue 3 is not the account being discussed on this thread is it?

    Is there a difference between Intenet Saver 3 & E-Saver issue 3?

I should have read further back on this thread than I did.

I've just phoned B & B and been told exactly the same.
The lady said that the rate will show up on the 'Accounts no longer available' when the site has been updated.

I do have another query though.
I only opened the account last week with £100 nominal amount.
The date for this was given as 27th October. Since then, I did a test transfer of £50 on 21st October and the date given was 24th October.
The account shows as having the £50 processed BUT not available for withdrawal. Not that I want to withdraw. Does it now take another 2 to 3 days for the amount processed to be 'available'?
